  • Dr. Steven Hall is a board-certified family practitioner and author who incorporates integrative medicine into his practice. Integrative medicine is practicing medicine in a way that selectively incorporates elements of complementary and alternative medicine into comprehensive treatment plans alongside solidly orthodox methods of diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Hall focuses on activating the mind, body, and spirit to treat the whole person. 

    Dr. Hall is interested not only in the content of science, but also the process of, “how is it what we think we know is really true?” Dr. Hall says, “One of the most unscientific things that scientists can do is discard the data that doesn't fit the model. At first, I thought well maybe alternative medicine has some good answers. Along the way, I started studying bodywork. I had also studied clinical hypnosis.” Dr. Hall aims to connect the unconscious mind with the conscious mind to allow each patient to communicate with their pain centers.

    In his book, The 7 Tools of Healing, he focuses on unlocking your inner wisdom and living the life your soul desires. In his own words, “As people would get in touch with their inner wisdom, as it would take over their own life, you see a part of yourself that you want to change. As you force it to change you get resistance. When you practice a skill you get better at it. These are the 7 tools of healing.” The 7 tools of healing are as follows:

    • Faith
    • Awareness 
    • Acceptance
    • Compassion
    • Forgiveness 
    • Gratitude 
    • Right action 

    Acceptance is considered the most important skill of all. Dr. Hall says, “we want our truth to be a certain way, so whenever we try to see our truth right now we try to fix it or change it. That makes us violate a law of consciousness. Acceptance is so important because you really can’t change until you accept the way you are. If you look at how consciousness works that’s your creative power and that’s what allows us to create things. Creativity flows where you focus your intention.”

    Our discussion shined a light on inner wisdom and admitting your moment right now. The importance of being kind to ourselves at that moment and possessing the mindfulness to be aware enough of our emotional and physical state. Our beliefs quite literally determine how we physically respond to situations.
