Publisher's Summary

This is for charity. This is for fun. You are a professional. You can do it.

Those are the words that Calloway Alvarez chants to herself as she watches all the large men gather into the small room where she’ll be doing the interviews for her employer - Hero Magazine.

Honestly, she’s convinced herself that she can’t accomplish the task at hand.

That is until she hears his voice, and her head turns to see him standing there.

Louis Spurlock. Greek god. SWAT officer. Keeper of her secrets. Ultimate fantasy. Man who will break her heart.

Louis Spurlock has been playing nice.

He’s been biding his time, giving Calloway the space she thinks she needs.

But then he sees her taking photos of his friends in all states of undress, talking to them all as if they’re best friends, and that little thread of control he’d been managing to hold onto unravels.

Let’s change it up, she says. And the moment the words are out of her mouth, he’s stripping to his skivvies, and throwing out a challenge while he’s at it.

Calloway won’t know what hit her when he’s through playing.

But he does know one thing for sure. When it ends, she’ll be his.

It contains a heart story

This audio book , book 5 in the series is second generation swat members. This story is about Louis part of the police department and a the Swat department officer. The heroine is Calloway , her father is a police officer also

Louise made the biggest mistake of his life when he had to go into the service , he broke up with Calloway. He gave some lame excuses. Calloway wont give Louise the time of day. Calloway needs blood monthly, she’s Anemic, I can relate my mom is fast forward yrs later when Calloway is at school as a nurse when she gets a visit from one of the students, he pretends he’s sick and asks for his mother to be called so she can come. There are lots of reasons to listen to this , it’s a second chance romance, the other is dead animals keep on showing up at Calloway outside door. Right when you think you know who the villian is , Lani Lynn throws you for a loop .

The performance of Mackenzie Cartwright, Teddy Hamilton is fantastic. They brought the story to life . I highly recommend this.

damn LLV... 💜💜💜

(Louis & Calloway): disclaimer- I didn't find the wine 🤦🏾‍♀️😜. TRIGGERS: PTSD, military dogs, animal cruelty and abuse, stalking, mental illness, child neglect, suicide. Louis and Calloway are the kids of the first generation of the SWAT team in Kilgore. They have grown up together and dated in high school. And Louis donates his blood to her every month or so for her anemia. I wondered what their deal was in the previous book when they were caught arguing outside Ares' place. When Louis graduated high school, he wanted to join the Marines. Since Calloway still had another year left, Louis decided he wanted to break up and gave a b.s. excuse. Only when he came home on his first leave, he immediately regretted it and Calloway was not about that life. She let him have it and made him suffer her silence for years. Needless to say, there's a tube jump and Calloway is not the school nurse with her office across from Ares. Louis is now on the SWAT team and he wants her back. These two are so cute together and extremely hot but they also have great banter. However, happy bubbles can't always last without a little nightmare inducing drama. Someone has been leaving messages for Calloway on her front porch and he's not happy. Oh man, hang on to your hats because this one is a doozy. It will make you go through all the feels.

Possibly the worst book ever written

I kept hoping this would get better but it was absolutely the worst book I’ve ever listened to, despite that it was read by two of my favorite voice actors. That’s was the only thing that made this experience even mildly tolerable.

First, the story is awful. The writing is weak, filled with clichés and the plot and how it all unfolds is embarrassingly terrible. I can’t believe this book has so many positive reviews because I barely got through it and am embarrassed for the author that she wrote something so terrible.

Second, there are so many annoying things happening with the characters, the most glaring being all of their annoying names: Aries, Bourne, Booth, Caro, Larick, Tooney, Downey, Saint, Other Saint. Just AWFUL. Reggie for a girl. Beckham also for a girl. Also, there are way too many characters. It’s almost as if this book’s soul purpose is to point out how many characters and other books this author has written, because it just goes on and on exhaustively telling details about characters that have basically nothing to do with the story. And all of this side stories are cringey: one former couple have a son together, and the woman is in love with her ex’s brother, and the man is in love with his ex’s sister. So if those couples end up with the people they’re pining after and either couple has a baby, it will be the sibling AND cousin of the other boy. So messed up.

Good story, great narration!

The narration was great by both narrators. The story was a second chance romance, which is my favorite. The secondary characters were so well described and were part of the story without taking over. Now I want to go back and read/listen to all the rest.

The guy!!!!!

Honestly, this isn’t one of my most favorite books by LLV but it’s still Lani so it’s awesome!!! I feel as though I made a valiant effort to finish but the male just sounds like a surfer dude from California. Definitely NOT a native Texan. As a Texan it’s irksome, but I kept feeling like he’d pop out a “dude” or “bro” I made it through 4 hours but couldn’t do it anymore!!!!

Calloway and Louis

Lani Lynn Vale never ceases to amaze me. This is a cute, sweet, suspenseful, and heartwarming journey to go on with Calloway and Louis. I absolutely enjoyed this book.
Teddy Hamilton is always an amazingly perfect narrator. Mackenzie Cartwright is just as good.

This one didn’t grab me

I normally love LLV books but this one didn’t excite me. Calloway and Louis have a past...they dated in hs until he dumped her at his graduation before he headed off to bootcamp. Now Louis is back as a KPD SWAT officer and donates blood to Calloway once a month...she is anemic. Unfortunately, I don’t feel the chemistry between these two and the suspense part didn’t grab me. Hoping that the next one will be better.
