Publisher's Summary

Traded. She had been traded by her own captain to the Alliance Empire. She and the rest of the female crew from the human starship Dakota were to be married off. As the Alliance was suffering from a demographics issue, there weren’t enough Alliance women. Dru didn’t care what kind of problems the Alliance had, she didn’t come this far in her short life to end up as a grey alien man’s slave, no matter how powerful his civilization was. But that was the problem, humans were next to nothing, and the Alliance Empire ruled the galaxy.

Ket of Imperial House Vo had not thought much about the human women being brought to the Alliance, until his eyes rested on the young, red-haired beauty, and he knew it was the gods’ will that she become his wife. He would make her submit to his strict Alliance culture and make her humbly accept her new life in the Empire. He knew from the moment he saw her picture that she was his destiny.

The Alliance Series is set in a fictional future where humans are small-time players in the big-time galaxy. There are no heroes or women being rescued, instead, listeners are led through an intricate maze of alien courting customs, duplicitous strict religious codes, vicious culture shock, and uncomfortable compromises. These books are meant to ask a question about a fictional, what-if scenario: "How connected are love and sex?"

Sex is a primal instinct, but is love? Separating love from lust. And, asking if it is possible to separate sex and love in a marriage that will last centuries? And finally, how far are we prepared as a society to acknowledge adultery? Each book in the Alliance series follows a completely different woman on her individual journey into this alien world. Don't expect hero boy meets beautiful girl and happily-ever-after stories. Every character gets what life throws at them, and their decisions have consequences.

Loved It

I really enjoyed this book! I love alien romance but this story had a but if a twist. It was not just based on the two characters getting married. It shows what the female character went through and the build of of everything she came to. I loved the narrator Holly. She did a great job going between the Male and female characters. Her voice really got me into the story.

Intriguing and stunning!!

it was hot!!!! I was shocked and amazed by the world created and brought to life by this narrator and author. It had so many things going for it as it was sensual, erotic, had mistery and intrigues. There were a few areas that could have been handled better and provided closure to scenes however, overall I enjoyed this book and the premise of futuristic aliens struggling with some of the same issues we face in our society now.

Married to the Alien Doctor

This was an interesting listen. It dealt with a lots of different topics. Cultural differences, bullying, love at first sight, jealously and how different people deal with it on an Alien world.

Different but good

Very different from what I thought it would be. That’s not saying it’s bad just different. The story really makes you look at culture norms and how they different around the universe.
I don’t know what to say other than give it a try!

Okay, but... not fantastic

I received a free copy of the audiobook in exchange for a review.

Overall, the book was engaging enough that I wanted to know how it ended. But, I almost turned it off immediately because the narrator didn’t seem to suit the main character very well.

There is a plot. There is erotica. They work well enough together. However, neither is very engaging because the main character alternates between inexperienced uncertain teenager and determined woman. Plot points come and go... but without build up or denouement.

Overall: a pleasant listen but I wouldn’t do another with either this author or narrator.

Science Fiction Romance

Married to the Alien Doctor by Alma Nilsson is the second book in the Renascence Alliance Series that I listened to on audio narrated by Holly Holt. The books can be read as standalones.

This is the first book of Alma’s that I read and it definitely won’t be my last. I was intrigued by this series and will need to go back and read the first book of the series Married to the Alien Admiral.

Holly did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.

I did notice on a few sections lines were repeated but not often enough to distract from the story. Also I personally like to listen to my audiobooks at a quicker pace so I listened at 1.75 speed.

So very long...

I normally don't mind a nice long book. Unfortunately in this case I feel as if much of the length was just unnecessary filler. I wasn't able to even really get into the book until I was at least half way through. I also was a bit put off my the constant use of technical names for male and female anatomy during scenes that were supposed to be erotic. The storyline itself was interesting and I definitely enjoyed the thought behind it. I'm just not sure if the authors writing style is a good fit for me.

The narration needed some editing/proofing. There were many places that lines were repeated or background notice filtered through. Holly herself did a good job with the actual narration. There was just quite a bit of technical issues that detracted from the story.

Interesting And Unique

I can't say that I was madly in love with this book, but I can't say I hated it either. It's one of those books that you're intrigued enough to give a chance, but not enough to rave over and deem a favorite. I found the book a bit cringy, but I recognize that it could have been way worse. I expected this book to be fully sexual with a bit of a story mixed in. I was wrong. There are sexual scenes in it, but it doesn't overpower the story like I thought it would. The characters were okay, but they could have used a bit more personality to connect with. For lack of better way to describe it, all of the characters were more scientific than personal. I think that's the way they are supposed to be written though. This is supposed to take place in the way distant future. Like thousands of years from now. And the lack of connection could just be me. I really did enjoy hearing Holly Holt telling this story. She did bring some life into the story. I want to say that I've listened to something of hers before, but I can't say for sure. I'll have to go through the books I've listened to so I know for sure. That will take some time though. Even if I haven't, I'll definitely give books narrated by her a chance in the future. While I enjoyed this story, I will probably not continue the series. I didn't read the first book, and I probably won't. This story has great potential. I'm sure that it will thrill many readers. It just didn't do it for me. It lacked some things that I felt it needed more of. I am willing to admit that it could have been way worse. I'm glad I gave it a chance. It was adorable and unique. I enjoyed that aspect of it.

Married to the Alien Doctor

It's not as naughty as I was expecting, it's a bit fun, I listen to about halfway through the book, but I'm struggling to finish it, Married to the Alien Doctor has a good storyline and narrator and is more aimed at the female market I assume, basically take out the sexy bits you would have a pretty good space opera in my opinion,

Excellent narration of an intriguing story.

I so enjoyed the way Holly Holt brought these characters and this story to life. So much so that I forgot about the narration and just got sucked into the story.

From the blurb I wasn't quite sure what to expect. But I was drawn more and more into the story the more I listened. And I have to say I really enjoyed it. I loved following along with Dru as she worked out her place in her new world. The misunderstandings that happened and the omissions from both sides that made things more tricky. In fact it felt very real, the reactions, the expectations and the compromises. I really enjoyed the character portrayals and got quite involved with them, often giving advice in my head. I could quite happily have spent a lot more time with them.

A must listen!

Just the kind of science fiction book I like, heavy on the futuristic culture and light on the hard science. The narrator really pulled me into the story as well and did a great job reading both the lead characters'. Looking forward to the next installment!
