So much edited out it barely makes sense
whilst I am in no doubt that the unabridged version is as wonderful as all the rest of these amazing novels, this version of the audiobook has been edited down from over 18 hours to just over 5. there are times when the gaping holes in the story are almost painful. After much searching for the unabridged version it is clear that here in Europe we are unable to access it. so, just over an hour in, I have stopped listening and just bought the e-book.

Yet another lovely story in the Cazalet chronicles
I was transfixed reading each the 4 books and now can listen to them as well. All the stories are a good reflection on the living during the periods 1930's - 1950's. It is lovely hearing the characters growing up, in the first book some of the children are born, By the last book, Casting Off they are all grown up and married. It is worth listening to them in chronological order to get the best value.

After listening to the superb Radio 4 dramatisation of the first part of the Cazalet Chronicles I could not wait to find out more about the lives of the Cazalets so downloaded this abridged version. Unfortunately the reader does not bring the story or the characters to life in the way that the dramatised version does. After reaching the halfway point I felt very little for any of the characters and had little interest in continuing with their story. I will stick to the Radio 4 version and I would advise other listeners to do the same.
