Uno de los mas grandes escritores espanoles del siglo XIX, Perez Galdos creo en Marianela la triste historia de una muchacha campesina, lazarillo de un joven ciego, que cree que ella reune todas las bondades y la belleza, cuando lo cierto es que Marianela es bastante fea. En una intervencion quirurgica el muchacho logra recobrar la vista y eso hace que el mundo de la joven caiga en ruinas.

One of the main works of spanish literature, Marianela is the sad story of a country girl, the guide of a blind boy, who thinks that she posseses all the goodness and beauty of the world when in reality she is ugly. In a surgical intervention the boy recovers his vision and that causes Marianela's world to fall apart in ruins.

Lovely classic

This book is a classic in Latin America and the story continues to pull at the heartstrings. The always current story of girl loves boy but has something to hide (in this case, her physical appeareance) and boy loves girl but has not seen her.
