Cara Carozza
On one of the busiest days of tax accountant Cara Carozza's tax season, she receives a call from her twin sister, letting her know that her home is surrounded by cops. They allege that her husband and children are manufacturing drugs on their property to sell to high school students, and that her husband is at the center. Cara is thrust into a whirlwind of court appearances, financial hiccups, and emotional distress.
Many Gifts is the remarkable story of seeing beyond the setbacks. Through Carozza's fight to defend her dignity, and protect her family, she goes on a journey of self-discovery that ultimately leads her to her breakthrough.

The author, Cara Carozza, bares her life and soul to the world as she finds her path through the difficult situations, she found herself. As a parent, it is difficult raising children but toss in outside influences and even the best of children will suffer. Sharing her experiences and emotional journey was enlightening. She was vivid in her details and relationships. The story flowed smoothly and flawlessly. Throughout the book, she was constantly connecting numbers, initials, etc. with events and people hoping for positive outcomes. This had a new age feel to it, but I recognize it now as a coping mechanism.
As the narrator also, Carozza does very well. She narrates the story from her point of view and speaks clearly. She spoke smoothly and steadily. I cannot fathom how did so without screaming or crying at the unfairness of the situation she found herself in. As a narrator, she projected enough emotions that were reflective of the of chaos, fear, and public humiliation she faced.
This is a well-done book that invokes strong emotions for a woman who has suffered through public humiliation, loss of her reputation, and her children’s lives being severely affected. While this is not the genre of book I normally enjoy, I am grateful to have listened to it.
