Publisher's summary

Sleepy little North Bend just woke up. The newly promoted Sergeant Jade Monroe and her partner, detective Jack Steele, have just been informed of an unidentified male body found at a local lake. The town is in an uproar. The victim was nearly decapitated, and murder simply doesn't happen in North Bend.

As more bodies turn up, the single connection between all of the victims becomes clear - it's Jade, herself. With each new victim getting one step closer to Jade, time begins to tick away. She must find the person responsible before her loved ones, or herself, are targeted next.

Good book

Went fast and wasn’t very exciting. It was okay; I would listen to another one in the series to see if it gets more exciting.

Lots of Thrills and Chills as the Mystery Villain

This is my first Jade Harrington novel, and I look forward to reading more of her series. C. M. Sutter writes believable characters you come to care about

The Audible version is superb!!

Very good story

My first book by C. M. Sitter. I’m impressed! The story was very good. It was well written with enough clues to make you think in the right direction but not enough to give the story away. I’m looking forward to reading more books by her.

Enjoyed.

I enjoyed this book, though I must say I figured out the villain early on in the story, but it was interesting. My only complaint...or drawback, was that I thought the character's interactions with each other was a bit "Polly Anna"...everyone was too nice....or something...it was just a bit odd for me. That being said, I gave it 4 stars and will definitely get the next book in the series.

So a good thriller that kept me guessing. I was shocked when the perpetrator was figured out! The narration was well done and ai eagerly look forward to the next

Page Turner

I never suspected till the end the real killer, It was so skillfully written that the details of the deaths were gruesome enough without beleaguering on them enough to cause the reader to put the book down,

Good crime thriller

I like author C.M. Sutter and Maniacal is a good story. I like the way she writes the killers POV as Jade and Jack try to solve the murders. The death details can be gruesome but not to difficult to get through. The narrator does a great job with each character. I will continue the series.

2 hours in…

And I can’t take anymore.
This writer seem very new to writing, lack of details, the second murder was letter one sentence, and very vague. Dude hopped on the chicks back and strangled her with her yoga pants. About all the details of the second murder. I’m done. Next book please, I’m glad this was free

Oh thank heavens it’s over.

The premise of the story was interesting. I was looking forward to see how it would develop. But the farther along the story went, the worse it got. The antagonist became clear halfway through the book. And by the end of the story every serial killer cliche had been used. The author even took part of Jeffery Dahmer’s story and added that to her character. By the end it was just painful.
