Karla Gracey keeps me completely entertained with this series of mail order brides. This one brings us Matthew and his son Chris looking for a wife and mother. While Matthew's wife died 3 years earlier, and he misses her, and knows it is time to move on and his son needs a mother. He writes the Boston Globe and Emily responds. Emily is a 27 year old circus performer who has had a terrible injury. Because her family is preventing her recovery, she decides to take Matthew up on his offer and go to Montana. She takes her donkey with her as well. They both find that they have much in common and Chris loves her. Their romance is sweet and wonderful, again bringing me my happily ever after! Plus some of the donkey acrobatic scenes just make you smile!

Alan Taylor is a wonderful baritone narrator. Love his voice and he performs historical novels perfectly.

Overall review for Sun River Brides, books 2-5:

Karla Gracey's Mail Order Bride series is a series of sweet romantic shortstories. The stories are very fast-paced and only told - not showed. In some books I didn't connect with the characters at all. You won't get much background stories to the characters' lives and in some points you only get the point of view from one of them. These books are good entertainment if you need a short listen once in a while.

About 'A Bride for Matthew': If I should choose a favorite of books 2-5, this is the one. We have a couple falling in love - I think - he's a widower with a 6 yo son, she's temporarily disabled in a wheel chair and then the 3 of them have to make connections. I think it went pretty well. Still, we need to have romance and passion between the couple, but it doesn't seem to meet my needs when it comes to a romance story.

Alan Taylor did a very good job in narrating this series and has a very pleasant voice and made characters come to life. I'd love to hear him in other books as well.
