Publisher's summary

To the forest on the shore of the Kingdom of the Isles, the orphan Pug came to study with the master magician Kulgan. But though his courage won him a place at court and the heart of a lovely princess, he was ill at ease with the normal ways of wizardry. Yet Pug's strange sort of magic would one day change forever the fates of two worlds. For dark beings from another world had opened a rift in the fabric of spacetime to being again the age-old battle between the forces of Order and Chaos.

FINALLY!

I can't imagine why the Author held back so long in releasing this to audio book format, but I'm glad he finally did!
Now, if we can just get a better narrator. Perhaps one without a British accent? An American maybe?

phenomenal

I was so excited when Audible finally decided to put the Riftwar Saga in their collection. The story is epic, and the telling by Nicholas Guy Smith is wonderful.

Exceeded Expectations

The dragon’s deathwatch segment of this reading has made my years of audible subscription worth it. It was so well performed.

Why had I not listened to this sooner?

This book had sat in my wish list for a long time. It’s so good. Starting book 2 right away. It’s so worth a credit even if you are not into this genre.

Great Series

I have read the "Riftwar" book series several times but hearing it read out loud gives me a new perspective on some aspects of the book. Being able to just sit back and listen allows me to hear some things I didn't remember reading. If you like fantasy and magic give the first two books in the series "Magician Apprentice & Magician Master" a read... er listen.

Amazing series

This is one of the few books that inspired a boy that had no to read to finish a series, and search for more like it.

Excellent book! Definitely reading the series.

The pace of this book is just right. I was never bored or zoning out. The characters are very intriguing, and I am looking forward to seeing their development through the remaining...29 books. No complaints at all about the narrator. I was afraid I wouldn't be a fan of the two connected worlds, but the author managed to maintain make the invading world interesting and as realistic as I could have expected. SPOILER: I did find it interesting that Pug did almost no magic in the entire book. His friend Thomas seemed to have progressed a lot more than he did so far. Starting Magician:Master right now.
