Publisher's summary

Mercenary Kate Daniels must risk all to protect everything she holds dear in this epic, can't-miss entry in the thrilling #1 New York Times bestselling urban fantasy series.

Kate has come a long way from her origins as a loner taking care of paranormal problems in post-Shift Atlanta. She's made friends and enemies. She's found love and started a family with Curran Lennart, the former Beast Lord. But her magic is too strong for the power players of the world to let her be.

Kate and her father, Roland, currently have an uneasy truce, but when he starts testing her defenses again, she knows that sooner or later, a confrontation is inevitable. The Witch Oracle has begun seeing visions of blood, fire, and human bones. And when a mysterious box is delivered to Kate's doorstep, a threat of war from the ancient enemy who nearly destroyed her family, she knows their time is up.

Kate Daniels sees no other choice but to combine forces with the unlikeliest of allies. She knows betrayal is inevitable. She knows she may not survive the coming battle. But she has to try.

For her child.

For Atlanta.

For the world.

Absolutely Brilliant-both content & performance!

Exciting and thoughtful plot twists. The series wrapped as seemlessly and skillfully as I've ever seen. And yet, I see the possibility of a new and intriguing series logically forming from the epilog.

Between Kate Daniels and Nevada Baylor, no one crafts more complete, powerful, vulnerable, flawed and interesting characters and stories than does Ilona Andrews.

The best, just absolutely the best yet.

Wrapped up everything in such a way it could be the end. I do hope the next chapter will come but am so content with how well the author left nothing undone. Simply brilliant. Never before has a story truly left the listener with no questions unanswered.

Great finish to a series

Kate Daniels may end up going on, but for this segment of the story, it's over. And I thought it finished very strong. The story was extremely engaging, the characters all multi-dimensional. Just a great book and great way to end a series.

BRILLIANT.

Well done. The conclusion is so unexpected. I enjoyed the whole series tremendously. However I do hope there will be more stories on Kate's and Curan's family and their friends/allies. I hope there will also be more coming on Comlyn's (hope the spelling is correct) growing up. Very, very good series not to be missed. I have the whole collection in my Audible Library and I have read and re-read a number of times. Never got tired of it. Worth the credits!

Narrator is Inconsistent

The narrator doesn't always follow the descriptions of the characters voices. After narrating more than 10 book of these characters she should be familiar with them. Derek for instance is supposed to have a raspy ruined voice. She gives him a peppy teenager voice. Christopher is from California but for some reason speaks with an Italian accent. Sometimes. Not always. Andrea has had a Texas drawl in the past but not in this book. Curran's voice changed mid paragraph so I thought someone else had joined the conversation.

She sometimes mispronounces words. Dictionary ma'am.

A wonderful book

The tenth volume of the Kate Daniels series is magnificent. Action, plot twists, characters are all superb. The audio is good, but some of the voices the narrator uses—such as Erra—are less than interesting. It was a great book to listen to while walking.

I love this series!

I have read the books in this series a couple times. I decided to listen to them on audible. If you have the kindle version of the series you can buy the audio from Audible for a discounted price. What a deal! This is the final book in the series. Wow! It was worth it. What an excellent denouement.

Magnificent wrap-up for the series

It's always sad when a favourite series comes to an end, but what a great end. Very satisfying, and also leaving tantalising trails for future spin-offs. The story was intricate and exciting, and the narration excellent as usual. Thoroughly recommended.
