Magic Quickie

This book had a nice plot and creative idea that it kept me interested- I liked that Eliza was a witch and that Drew was imprisoned in a book and that only she could see and touch him. It was a pretty decent paced book, but somewhere around the halfway mark it got kicked into overdrive and felt very rushed. The characters were likable, but I couldn’t really connect to any of them and I wasn’t too fond of the narrator’s voices for each one. I hope to read the rest of the series to see if I can connect better with any of the characters and to see what else happens.

A Good Short Story

I enjoy AJ Tipton's stories but this one didn't really grab me as some of her others. It was a fun listen but I feel the author could've done a bit better by trimming the book a bit. There is romance, sex, adventure and magic making this an entertaining listen, it just needed to be a bit shorter. The narration was not exactly my cup of tea. Audrey Lusk isn't one of my favorite narrators. I feel she tries too hard. Her narration did take a bit away from the story but not enough for me to not finish. Overall, a good short story.

A Sweet Story, laced with magic and humor =)

A Sweet Story, laced with magic and humor =)

I really enjoyed this audio book! It had it all, a library. old books, magic, a good looking man, a mother who disappeared. For such a short story, this was packed with story! It was a great world to enter and linger in.

The narration was great, I have heard her before under a different name. She is very distinctive and does a great job.

Magically romantic love story.........

Magic Between the Covers is a fun blend of paranormal, action and romance. This book focuses strongly on magic and is much more paranormal based than some of Tipton's series. I was very impressed at how well Tipton handled world building in this magical reality where witches exist and magic spells can easily go awry and ruin lives. In this story, Eliza watched her mother disappear into the covers of a book when she was only 13 years old. This leads to a seemingly permanent estrangement from her father and a life long quest to find out what happened to her mother and return her to this plane of existence. As part of this quest, Eliza meets Drew, a witch whose incredible skill in magic backfires and sentences him to a lonely existence in the pages of his own book for hundreds of years. This leads to much adventure and intrigue as well as a deeply passionate and caring love for the couple. For being such a short book, Magic Between the Covers makes a lasting impression, and I plan to continue with the rest of the series soon.

Although I am not always a fan of Audrey Lusk's narration, this was one of her best performances in my opinion. Her emotional tone is perfect to each scenario, and she differentiates well between male and female characters. Her delivery is always flawless, and that is the case again in Magic Between the Covers.

Library love

AJ Tipton is a new to me author and one I will read another book by. This short novella is action packed with lots of things going on. The characters are likable and the magic events are interesting. The narrator did a nice job with providing unique voices for each character. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Eliza An In Training Witch, Finds A Man Trapped In A Book

The story is cute and a little different...Eliza saw her mother disappear when she wS young..not knowing she was a witch...then as an adult finds out she is a witch and she is determined to find her mother.
During her research she gets a book in which a man named Drew, got himself trapped in a book for hundreds of years...he can help Eliza find her mother.
I just didn’t care for the narrator...it’s like she wants to sound like Mae West and the voice for women is so fake..and the men’s voices aren’t any better...it takes away the the story, unless she wants it to be over the top.

Eliza Hannigan is an up and coming witch, when she was young, she walked in on her mother casting a spell and disappears before her eyes.

Upon her research, she stumbles upon a magic book and meets Drew Nagle, who's been imprisoned inside a book for centuries.

This was a short read, and some pretty hot and magical moments in it.

Nothing Magical Here

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I loved AJ’s BIKER DRAGON Set but I think she missed the ball on this one... So much could have been simplified, or just simply left out, to enhance the important elements of this fast 2 hour listen. Instead there are three worlds that collide. And then there’s sex. It’s a fun idea but IMHO, not executed well.

I’ve listened to Audry Lusk several times now and I’m just not getting used to or growing fond of her inflections. She ends on a down note often trying too hard to sound sultry and ending up sounding petulant and whiny. I really wish I could say different.

Keeping Hands in my Pockets.

Decent book

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a short, but somewhat interesting story. It is definitely a romance story but it was nicely balanced with paranormal aspects of the story. The narration was decent. Not the best I'd ever heard, but decent.

A Fun Little Love Story

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

I'm a big fan of magic and romance; however, I've never listened to/read a story this short before, so I figured I'd give it a try. This short story definitely met expectations--it was quick, fun, and easy to listen to. The concept of people getting trapped in books was interesting, and the way the mystery was resolved ended up being a very cool twist. Of course, the story was limited by it's length, and the relationship seemed to move very quickly with little regard for development. The plot was also very simplistic, and I felt the world-building really left me wanting more. I would be very interested in listening to the second, as the preview made it seem like it would get more into the world-building and mystery now that the romance has been developed.

The narration was probably the weakest point. Her inflections were odd--almost like everything was a question, and even the most basic narrative lines seemed to have an odd, "sultry" tone to them. The range of voices was also very weak.

Overall, though, this was a fun little read, and I would definitely check out the next one in the series if I found it for the right price!

When a book boyfriend is stuck in a book...

We often hear about book boyfriends. You know, that delicious male characters that sets the reader's heart a flutter. Well this short story is actually about a boyfriend stuck in a book. To be fair, he doesn't start off as a boyfriend, but Drew and Eliza certainly set the pages on fire with their chemistry before Eliza manages to free him from his book abode.

This story is certainly different from the usual paranormal romances featuring witches. It also has a lead to the next book in the series without compromising this story, which is stand alone. If you enjoy quick and easy paranormal romances, this book fits the bill. It is a little fun, a little sexy and a little mysterious all rolled into one spell!
