Publisher's summary

Maggie vowed to never marry a man who can't laugh or dance, but when she and the dull new doctor in town, Everett Dulanis, wind up spending the night together in an abandoned dugout house, all that changes. Her father is the best man and his shotgun is the bridesmaid at the wedding where a union has been made, but there's certainly no unity.

Everett was engaged to Carolina Prescott, a southern lady in Atlanta, Georgia. But that, too, comes to an end when he awakes with nothing but a blanket around him and the cold barrel of a shotgun pressed against his forehead. Maggie, simple-minded and fun-loving, is as far removed from what he wants and needs in a wife as a hog straight from the wallow. Even though he keeps protesting that nothing happened in that dugout shack, he has no choice but to marry the woman.

Somewhere in the middle of undoing the knot that had been tied by mistake, Maggie and Everett find they've fallen in love and don't want to end their marriage. But will either of them ever admit it?

Maggie's Mistake

I absolutely love these books from Carolyn Brown. I cannot put some of them down. This was a story that kept you turning the pages to read as much as you could without putting it down.

Past or present feels like you are there

I enjoyed this book immensely. After completing it I looked for a sequel. Maggie is sassy, smart and amusing. The book had a great start, not slow, but set you right in the midst of the action from the beginning. The wit of the characters were apparent. The storyline caused the reader to root for one character and then another, much like a see—saw. Just when you thought you could predict the next occurrence, it would take a turn and offer a surprise. This book I will listen to again.

Maggie's Mistake

I enjoyed this story about Maggie and how people misjudge her because she is always happy, thinking she is dumb. l loved learning about her life and how she finds love with a man who is very different from her. The narrator did an excellent job of expressing Maggie's feelings and all the other characters emotions as well. I look forward to listening to more stories from this author and this narrator.

Maggie's Mistake

This was a cute love story, although I was beginning to think, no one could be that dense to not know, after all those kisses that there was some kind of attraction. However, I thought back when I attended college in Logan County in Oklahoma, how dense I was back then. I didn't know I was cute, I didn't know I had a drop dead shape, I didn't know any guy could like me or think I was cute, not unless they verbally said so. Maggie's do exist.

Sweet and predictable

But lovely. If life was only this simple for us all. Clean language, good for teens too.

A nice, sweet, lighthearted romance with great narration

I really enjoyed this book. A sweet romance when you need something on the lighter side. The narrator did such a great job of bringing the fiesty female lead to life. I will definitely be checking out more books by this author.
