 Die Kommissarin Isabelle Bonnet hat sich gegen die große Karriere in Paris und für ein Leben im beschaulichen Fragolin entschieden. Immer noch leidet sie unter dem Trauma, dass ein Attentat in der Hauptstadt bei ihr hinterlassen hat. Als ihr Assistent Apollinaire in den Akten auf einen alten Mord stößt, bei dem ein Mann mit einer Mistgabel übel zugerichtet wurde, erwacht Isabelles Jagdeifer - vor allem als sie bei ihren Untersuchungen über einen anderen Mord stolpert, bei dem eine nackte Leiche am Strand gefunden wurde. Bald entdeckt sie Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen den beiden Verbrechen, die alle übersehen haben.

Author perpetuates some myths about lesbians, but otherwise well written and performed story. A good series overall.

Listening again to this story, it’s even more annoying to hear the author - who is presumably an older straight man - trot out a tiresome theory that a straight young woman would change her sexual orientation to become a lesbian due to being sexually assaulted by men. That’s not how sexual orientation works. And even then, the author can’t find a way to give them a good life. It’s the old trope that gay love must end in tragedy. I hope the author will examine his prejudices and misconceptions.

And much as I admire the author’s writing skill and enjoy the narrator voice, I don’t recommend this particular book in this series.
