The AR15 is not an assault rifle, it's a semiautomatic rifle, AR = Armalite. It just has less recoil than your traditional rifle therefore is easier to use, especially for smaller or older people. I'd be willing to bet this "expert" was not Combat Arms. 2nd, PLEASE don't buy the cheapest gun in case "someone takes it" otherwise it won't work when you need it to. You get what you pay for.
