Publisher's summary

Known as the Lyon for his prowess on the battle field, Piers de Montgomerie accepts a challenge from King David - squash a troublesome highland rebellion. For his payment, he accepts disputed lands, but soon discovers that what he truly desires is the highland beauty whose brothers will never bow to him.

Meghan Brodie refuses to be a pawn in a political game and vows not be won so easily. She resists the English Lyon...but even as she begins to realize their love is destined to heal an injured land, she cannot dare to hope the Lyon will see beyond physical beauty to love the imperfect lass within.

Good story terrible narrator

I can't even finish this audible and will read it on my Kindle because the narrator is just awful. He reads like he has no idea what the words mean, the inflection is all wrong and just..., bad. Sad passages are happy, happy passages are bored and the passionate scenes are really weird, not accurate at all. The narrator of The MacKinnon Bride was good. Why did you chsnge?

Loved it

Loved this story and the narration! He had a way of making it like a fairy tail. Charming and funny. I will definitely search for books narrated by Ewan MacRae!

Great book!

I loved the story, but felt that it ended way too quickly. I wish there was an epilogue telling readers what happened next.

Most Fantastic

A bit fantastical for my taste mostly a farce, funny though it does stretch the imagination at points in the plot. No nearly as good as the first book in series

WARNING: A few mild spoilers below.

I have listened and enjoyed a couple of books by this writer and while her tales are not my highland favorites, I usually enjoy them. However, I really couldn't relate to either of the MC' s in this story. Megan's behavior seemed juvenile and TSTL. Lyon's instant decision to marry her seemed too precipitous; I guess it would have made more sense to me for the couple to at least get to know each other slightly first. The whole lamb scenario channelling her grandmother did not seem humorous and it went on for too long boring me. Unfortunately, I gave up on this writing about half way through and it is rare I DNF a book.
The second, more background story of Lief and Allison held more appeal for me and got me that far.

As for the narrator, I thought he has a wonderful accent and expression in his delivery. He does male voices well but his female voices are dismal and irritating to have to hear. The high pitch of the female voices reminded me of the early recordings of Mickey Mouse. It was highly distracting like fingernails down a chalkboard.

In conclusion, I hope this was a one off for me and will try this author's publications in the future. I do recognize that both the writer and narrator have talent.

Left me wanting

Wasn't a good as the first one. Could have been the narriation. His voice was not distasteful I just couldn't get on board with it.

Wow the series just gets better and better

I was not disappointed in any way by book 2 and I’m about to dive into book 3. All I can say is wow wow wow. Please continue on with the wonderful highland brides books because I’m really hooked. As always Tanya Anne Crosby your books make my heart happy. Thank you!

Okay Story / Narration not a good fit

While the story itself was enjoyable, I hated the voice of the reader. There were times when I thought he sounded more like a Vampire might sound. I would like to hear him read Dracula instead. I had a hard time getting past that voice but eventually listened to the entire thing.

Wonderfully written

Keeps you yearning for more. Although the male narrative isn’t appealing if female probably be a better alternative

Narrator

I love the fact that they had a Scotsman doing the narration for this book as he knew what he was saying and pronounced the word correctly.
I hope he is doing the narration of the other books.
