When the immoral king of Buganda (modern-day Uganda) threatened to imprison and execute Charles and his fellow Christians for not renouncing their faith, they held fast in their defiance and chose a true martyr's death. Since the time of their deaths in 1886 and canonization in 1964 as saints of the Roman Catholic Church, St. Charles Lwanga and his Companions to be an astounding example of what it truly means to be a Christian in world full of intolerance and doubt.
