Lisa Kessler is a new artist for me.

The premise of the series is fun and interesting.

I admit when she touched on a child needing parents I got nervous. I shouldn’t have.

I liked the characters attitudes, backstories and spunk. The dialogue was good.

The plot was interesting. A bit Percy Jackson for grownups. Sweet and fun with some feels too.

Very Engaging Storyline

Gwendolyn Druyor does a good job with the narration of this book. I really enjoy listening to her narrating the story. I know some about the Greek Gods but this is the first time I heard about Zoos 9 daughters. The muse and their guardians. This is definitely an enthralling storyline. This series caught my interest, it has romance, suspense, and the thrills, for sure I will have to read the next book in the series. I was given a free code from unleashed audio for my honest review. Yes, this is my honest take on the book. I like it a lot.

Entertaining story with some fun ideas!

Narration was good, but I wasn’t a fan of her male voice. Overall, a nice listening experience.

I'm going to love reading this series! I love the premise of muses being reborn and having guardians! And of course, some type of evil out to get them! So much fun and romance!

Melanie is the first muse's story we get, Melanie is the Muse of Tragic Poetry, and her roommate, who was also a muse, has died. Melanie and the other muses suspect foul play, but the police say it was accidental. Nate Malone is the detective on the scene, and when he meets Melanie strange things begin to change for him. Melanie and Nate begin to feel a pull towards each other, but both have reservations about the situation.

I love that there is a bit of mystery to the story, and I enjoyed the action scenes. Melanie and Nate have great chemistry, and are really sweet with each other. The sex scenes had just the right amount of spice and heat and emotion! Nate was a sweetheart and I liked his need to protect Melanie. Melanie was fun and tough, and I loved that she has a bit of spunk. I love that we get POV's from both Melanie and Nate, but we also get the bad guy's POV, which I would have liked a bit less of, so there was a bit more mystery, but that didn't ruin the story for me. Also, the Maggie situation was a little weird for me, I don't know why it didn't quite mesh with me because it was a sweet aspect, but something about it sat wrong for me, but that also didn't take away from my enjoyment of the rest of the book.

I love the combination of romance and suspense, so I am really looking forward to reading more books in this series! I enjoyed the other muses, and can't wait for their stories and for them to get their own guardians! I also enjoyed the writing, and look forward to reading more books by Lisa Kessler!

Good first of series

Mel is the first of the Muse sisters to find her Guardian realize they are in a war with the Order, those who believe the Titans will rise again to save mankind. Excellent world-building in present day, and character development of the 9 Muses who will carry the series. There's plenty of action, suspense, some sex and death, and overall good story line. I've already listened to books 2 and 3 and will review with similar enthusiasm.

Fun Start to this Series

Title: Lure of Obsession
Author: Lisa Kessler
Format: Audio
Narrator: Gwendolyn Druyor
Genre: Romance, SciFi, Fantasy, Fated Mates, Mystery/Thriller
Standalone: yes-ish. This couple’s story is complete but the overarching story is not
Part of a Series: Book 1 of The Muse Chronicles
POV: Mel, the murderer (Ben), Nate, Ted
Steam Level: steamy at times
4/5

Mel is the Muse of Tragedy reborn, Nate is the detective who is investigating her roommate's suicide. When he keeps being drawn to her and saving her life they realize that he is also her fated protector. I enjoyed this story I was simultaneously pulled in but also couldn’t concentrate on this story. However once the story got rolling I was in fully and wanted to know what would happen. Overall this is a fun book and a great start to a new series. The narration is okay. Not great but not terrible but sometimes distracting , especially with the male voices. I do like how she gave every character a unique sound and characteristics.

I received this audiobook for free from Audiobooks Unleashed. This is my honest and voluntary review.
