Publisher's summary

Lucian Marcello is aware of the expectations following him as the oldest son of one of North America's most infamous Cosa Nostra Dons. Family in his world is more than blood and sharing a last name. It's the honor, respect, business, and the life. Being a Capo is just a stepping stone until it's time for him to take on the role of underboss but a chance meeting with her could be the one thing he'd risk it all for.

She is exactly what he didn't know he was looking for.

Jordyn Reese spends her time trying to stay under the radar of a man who wouldn't think twice about killing her. Unwillingly affiliated with a dangerous MC gang, her life is dominated by the men surrounding her and her future rests solely in how useful she can be for them. The last thing she needs is some Mafioso gaining her more unwanted attention from the club.

He is everything she should stay away from but can't.

Notoriously violent when it comes to getting what he wants, Lucian will stop at nothing to make the target on Jordyn's back disappear. But sometimes the worst threats are the ones you can't see until it's too late. The truth behind Lucian's history is about to take center stage in more ways than one, and it'll either save him or kill him.

This world leaves everyone a little filthy.

One of my favorite mafia romances

Did John Thrust do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

He has an extremely deep voice so differentiating between the male and female character was harder to tell. I'd have preferred if there was a women doing the female character.

Any additional comments?

All the books I've read by Bethany are, in my opinion, amazing. They're well written and she does good research so what she writes doesn't seem fake or extreme.

Good story

This story was good but not as good as Deathless & Divided and Captivated. Lucian is different and kind of rough, but I guess that is to be expected. It took him a while to realize his feelings for Jordan or just admit them. I love how the family was so close. His father, Anthony, kept him and his brothers in line. Kate, his aunt, as a real b!tch. She said horrible things to him throughout his life. Anthony does not move fast without definitive proof, but when he does, look out. John Thrust did a good job with the narration. He nailed the mafia inflection in his voice.

Great Listen

This is the story of Lucian Marcello who is the oldest son of on of North America's most infamous Coas Norta Dons. Right now he is a Capo but this is just a stepping stone until he is able to take on the role of the underboss. This guy might be an adopted son but he is treated no different and he really has this special love for his family. When Jordan comes into his life all bets are off and he just might be willing to risk everything for her. These two have an epic love story and in true Bethany-Kris fashioin this book is filled with edge of your seat moments and a love that will melt you heart. The narrator did an amazing job and I enjoyed listening to him. I love a good insta love story and certainly a mafia one that keeps me on my toes.
I listened to this book and reviewed it for #audiobookobsession

SNOOZZZZZZZE........

.I could only get to chapter 9 and that was a struggle, the narration was awful, to slow and very monotone..

My First Ever Audiobook!

This is my first Bethany-Kris book and I decided to read this book on a whim. I found it randomly on Amazon when I was doing my daily search of what to read next (Although I should really stop looking for more books to read on Amazon since my TBR list on my Kindle is astronomical ). Last year I truly discovered my love for mafia Romance books. I honestly cannot get enough of them (recommendations are highly encouraged) they are probably one of my favorite Romance tropes. What can I say? I’m all for a bad boy 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nine times out of 10 I know I’m reading a really good book that I truly enjoy in all aspects is when I cannot stop thinking about it and would do absolutely anything to continue to read the book throughout my day. I did this on many occasions while I was at work. Mind you I was listening to the audiobook version of this, I for sure should not have been reading this at work considering the crude language and very sexual content that is not work appropriate 🤷🏻‍♀️

The description in this book is absolutely phenomenal. Most of the time I loath very descriptive book with unnecessary information. Most of the time authors tend to drag out something that can be explained in so few words. Bethany Kris on the other hand uses these elaborate explanations that really tell the story and you get a vivid picture of what’s actually going on in your head while you’re reading. When an author can do that for me I know this is an excellent book. This book is filled with lust, hate, murder, deception and tons of hot and steamy sex. Lucian and Jordyn, our two main characters, both come from rough pasts and both are knocked on their asses when they meet each other.

Lucian is brought into the Marcello family as a young boy and fits right into the family like he was born in it. He loves his family, his life and the family business. He is charming and mysterious. Jordyn is such a strong and resilient character. She takes no shit and will tell you where to go. These two are perfect for each other and they also balance each other. Overall I really enjoyed the storyline as well as both Lucian and Jordyn. Their story was somewhat insta-lovie and thought I’m not a fan of when authors do that, the love they had for each other truly felt genuine.

Strong ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 star read from me.

Great book

Amazing narration. Loved the narrator. Story great, perfect suspension. Held me to the story. Loved the story. I normally don't go for audio books but this was a game changer I think it was the suspension and story really had me glued in. Next time I pick audio I definitely will be looking towards this author. 5 stars. Loved it. I would definitely recommend it.

A Mafia romance that is not to be missed

Where does Lucian rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is probably one of the best audibles that I've listened to so far.

What other book might you compare Lucian to and why?

This was my first Mafia Romance book, so comparing it to other books that I've listened to is difficult, but this book did have the perfect narrator for this type of story.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Jordyn tells off Kate at Lucian's mother's birthday party.

Any additional comments?

John Thrust is an amazing narrator and I hope to listen to more of his books.

Okay didn't hate it but didn't love it either

the alpha is not alpha at all, the romance build up is kinda okay, but dang the narration ruins it for me. Also the plot is kinda "meh", like ALL problems "magically" dissolve and are resolved for Lucian without any action! I don't know how to explain it. Like yeah there was some spice up to there, but you also want some action and strong plot... it just wasn't there for me... it kinda picks up a little bit, oh well. I listened to it, did I love it? no. Did I hate it? no.

Love, LOVE, LOVED Audiobook of Lucian

Where does Lucian rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

At first I wasn't sure but this turned into one of the top audiobooks I have listened to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Jordyn, hands down however I loved who Lucian and Jordyn were when they were together, almost as if they were a completely different yet singular entity when they were together.

What does John Thrust bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has extremely clear diction and a great ability to switch back and forth between English and very believable Italian.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Mainly I was just enthralled by the Jordyn-Lucian love-story.
