Publisher's summary

On a wildly beautiful island in the Pacific Northwest at a summer camp, a musician is confronted with the complexities of love, the heartbreak of betrayal, the challenge of mentoring children, and the power of music to touch our souls, connecting us to one another.

With gentle humor, Lovers’ Waltz tells the story of Iris McCann, a fiercely talented 26-year-old in search of her real life. She crosses the water to flee her band, her boyfriend, her once-promising career, and what’s left of her squabbling family since the sudden death of her father. She comes home playing a new tune.

Fast paced, informative, captivating story

I enjoyed listening to Lovers' Waltz and when done I had this feeling I'm missed some things. Since it's a short book, took a second listen, and found so much packed in there. I never went to summer camp and the story provided wonderful description of some of the experiences and the beautiful place in the Pacific NW. The story is very much about universal themes: the enduring power of friendships, family dysfunctions, loss, addiction, love and betrayal, and the compromises we all make in the course of getting by in life. Learned things about music and the process of creating music that will make me a more appreciative listener.

Touching, funny, and deeply moving - LOVED IT!

Touching, funny, and deeply moving, Lovers’ Waltz grabs you and takes you to a special place. Wickett-Ford is a gifted writer, her voice is witty and loving but still maintains a depth and gravity. She beautifully captures moments, you can feel the magic of the camp and see the gorgeous setting in which the story takes place. The characters are multidimensional and easy to fall in love with. They face true challenges and the journey is joyous, funny, heart-wrenching and thought-provoking. Through it all, the power of music is indispensably woven in and gives the story roots. I greatly enjoyed listening to this book, the narrator does a great job! I would love to see Lovers’ Waltz as a film or full-length novel. Thank you Susan Wickett-Ford for this beautiful work of art!
