Publisher's summary

A dark romance about the lies that lead us down....

I'll do anything to get safe, even if that means working at the scariest club in town. I'll do anything to stay hidden, even if it means taking off my clothes for strangers. I'll do anything to be free. Except give him up. When he looks at me, I forget why I can't have him. He's beautiful and scarred. His body fits mine, filling the places where I'm hollow, rough where I am soft. He's the one man who wants to help, but he has his own agenda. He has questions I can't answer. What are you afraid of? You.

Love the Way You Lie is a full-length, dark romance novel that does stand alone. Fair warning: contains scorching scenes in the VIP room.

The narration could be better

I enjoyed the story, however, sometimes the narrator sounded very whiny and annoying. I also wasn't able to turn the volume up very high so I couldn't hear it well.

Hard to listen!

What can I say good about this book? Nothing. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and this one by far was one of the worst ones. The narrator’s voice drove me absolutely crazy. She sounded like a little baby when she was having sex with the guys.

It was ok

I really struggled with this one. I think the story line was good and it might have just been the narration that was killing me. It wasn’t awful there just wasn’t a lot of inflections in the narrators voice where I would expect.

Men are without conscience or contrition

Noticed a disturbing pattern of cruel acts by men upon women with an utter lack of wrath, retribution, fury, indignation or consequence. I don't know many women who would suffer in silence, forgive all past sins, find out an awful truth in betrayal yet immediately offer up a broken body to the offender. How is not one single apology expressed? How am I expected to believe a man is in love with a woman when he deceives, abuses, and mistreats without any guilty conscience, or regret for causing humiliation, or atonement for degradation, etc? The woman's character clearly feels the hurt, betrayal, pain, humiliation, disappointment, shattered trust and yet this is not really acknowledged by the man. He is somehow forgiven for all his dastardly deeds and gets the girl because he finally showed up to rescue her. Eye roll.

_Suspenseful

Suspenseful with lots of sex both good and bad. Well developed hero and heroine characters. along with a cadre of twisted ones. It won't disappoint.

Very good

Scary and sad. Very different love story with a lot of male violence towards women. No punches were pulled.

Big Change from Book One

I was thrown to realize this book was so different than book one. Since it hadn't ended with an HEA, I assumed we'd follow that same couple in this book. Instead we switch to the older sister. A lot of thier past is revealed, and it gets gritty but it feels as if the overall story arc is moving forward. I'm going to keep with the series in hopes to learn more about the younger sister.

dark and very intriguing

I loved it. The narrator is amazing and the story twisted. Honor and Clara fought for the freedom and the life they wanted and in the process Honor learned a thing or too, especially about who to trust!

Dark Romance

Lets just start by saying that I didn't realize that Love the Way You Lie was such a dark romance, it was a bit overwhelming for me at times. There was a lot, I mean a lot of dark and dirty sex scenes. And there were a lot of dark, very serious plot points. I went back and forth on my feelings for this book.

At first, I was intrigued. Honor (A.K.A. Honey) was telling a whole lot of lies, and I was really curious to see where this story was going to take us. But at about the 50% mark I was forcing myself to continue, Each chapter followed the same format: Honor talks about past or surroundings, she has a sexual encounter with Kip, she goes on and on about how dark and dangerous he is and how broken she is, one of them gets mad at the other and then she longs for him and a better life. Over and over and over. Nothing was happening. The book was at a stalemate.

Then, all of a sudden, the book got exciting. Shit got real and the story picked up. Lies were brought out in the open, questions where answered and people were killed. It was a very exciting last third of the book. The only problem is that I wish the whole book would have been as exciting. The slow, methodical pacing of the first 2/3rds of the book just brought my rating down.

Disappointed

I have read her books and really enjoyed them, the story was ok with some really saucy bits and some more risque.
However the narrator sounded like she normally read soft porn. I would have scored her less because the voice really detracted for me (this is entirely personal), but she could read do I gave her 2 ☆ - the voice was very limited in its range verging on monotone and a bit too sultry.
