In this world, love takes on many meanings, which vary from person to person. To different people love might mean a fuzzy feeling for someone, a strong desire for a favorite food, a thrilling enjoyment of a natural setting, or some other strong attraction. But the greatest illustration of love is giving one’s life for another. Indeed, real love is a sacrifice.

This book searches the Bible to draw understanding of love’s meaning and see how we might exhibit it more genuinely in our lives. We find that God is love, love that is exceptionally gracious and bestowed on those of us who are undeserving. We see God’s demonstration of love by sending His only begotten Son to earth to show us His love, teach us His ways, and become a sacrifice for our rebellious actions. God, knowing our need for a Savior, demonstrated unselfish love by sending full payment for our rebellion.

As we receive God’s love, we respond in love to God and to our neighbors. This book leads us through considerations of God’s love, examination of how God’s love can flow through us, recognition of barriers to love in our lives, and ways to grow in genuine selfless love. We ultimately see how agape love, God’s love, can be a form of worship of God, producing joy in our lives and pleasure to God.

By reading this book and reflecting on our own love lives, readers can become more loving and can more fully enjoy the richness of God’s love.
