Publisher's summary

Ellen may not believe in storybook love, but it’s about to rewrite her life...

Ellen’s figured out that finding the right guy is all about compatibility. That’s why she signs up for Detailed Dating - the local online dating scene in Sacramento. They ask men the hard questions, compare their answers with hers, then she filters through the profiles of each provided “match.” After numerous email exchanges, she narrows it down to two promising candidates she’s excited to meet in person.

When Ellen’s best friend asks her for a favor, dog-sitting leads to disaster and Ellen ends up at the local vet where she meets a man she can’t get out of her mind. Henry isn’t a logical choice, but she finds herself paying for dog obedience class to spend more time with him.

Ellen knows that in order to have a lasting relationship, she should take the safe route and go for one of the pre-screened guys. But, how can she think with her head when her heart keeps begging her to give Henry a chance?

Sweet story

Such a sweet story.
Ellen looks for love in what could be the wrong place, for her. Thank goodness she eventually realizes this and also realizes that she has unexpectedly fallen in love ... Big time!
I loved the last scene and that was the best part of the book for me. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the book builds up to that wonderful climax at the end.
I'm impressed with this author. She tells a lovely tale that flows from scene to scene.
The narration was really good, effortless, clear, amusing and enhanced the writing.

Very refreshing!

Would you listen to Love at First Date again? Why?

Yes because it was so refreshing and a difference perspective on romance. A younger fresher perspective. It wasn't very long which makes you just sail through it in one go but definitely well worth the listen.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favourite character was in fact Henry because he just sound like a really lovely guy. Who wouldn't want to meet someone like him.

Which scene was your favorite?

Almost the end at the Art Gallery when they finally get it all out in the open.

Any additional comments?

It took me a while to get used the narrator because she sounded so young, just like another recent book, she sounded like a young Wynona Ryder which bothered me at first but then was smooth and cute. I really did enjoy it and hope that rest of the seried will be available soon!

Get the stiletto you want!

Any additional comments?

I "read" this book twice the last time via audible. And it was as exciting and enjoyable the second time around. I love the surprise ending.

wonderful addition to my listening library

Would you consider the audio edition of Love at First Date to be better than the print version?

I love to read so having an audio edition of the book allows me to listen wherever, even at work and still have that love of reading.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Love at First Date?

I am a huge dog lover, owning two rescue pugs, so when it centered around dog school and a rescued Lab(which my mom has a Black Lab) made me instantly fall in love with the story.

What about Martha Lee’s performance did you like?

I liked her various voices and how the timber of her voice made it enjoyable.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh, especially with the Chester, who ate hair off a hairbrush and chewed a boot, everything a dog does.

Any additional comments?

I want to listen to the others in the series now.

Quick listen with no punch

What did you like best about Love at First Date? What did you like least?

I liked the dogs. I didn't like the flatness of the main character.

What aspect of Martha Lee’s performance would you have changed?

Flat performance. It was read like a robot with little inflection or acting. I don't think the narrator liked the book.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

The main character finally got three dimensional at the end of the book. If that feel for the main character had been at the beginning, I would buy the whole series. With the book being a really old Harlequin-type romance (read: no sex), I really needed to like the characters and the only one who had me think "keep going" was the hero. He did not disappoint.

Humorous refeshing read

Would you listen to Love at First Date again? Why?

Yes I thought it was a sweet, humors read with a lovely narrator, it was nice to have a fun loving read that let you just enjoy.

Which scene was your favorite?

The picture of her, and of course when he pulled the hairball out of the dog and she asked him if he was a vet.

Any additional comments?

A cute humorous short romance about looking for love in all the wrong places only to find it right in front of you where you least expected. People can be too much alike or think they want something they do not. Sometimes compatibility is overrated we can be too compatible or think we want one thing when in fact it isn’t what we want at all.

Elle felt she needed to find someone compatible she signed up on Detailed Dating site. She did her profile and got her dates. The dates were all wrong she found what she really wanted was what she didn’t want at all. It was really funny watching her date and how the dates went.

I loved how a dog brought two people together, it was very funny. I loved that dog. Henry was a very sweet wonderful character who gave a lot of his self. There are some misunderstandings which turn out to be cute. The author gives you a well told story which will keep you smiling and the narrator makes you chuckle with her wonderful voices. There are so many lovely characters in this store, each bring so much to the tale that will keep you interested. Before you know it the book is over and you can’t wait for the next in this series.

This was a cute little read that is a funny clean reads about finding the mate of your dreams at first site. If you want an easy fast fun read this is the book for you.

A fun dating adventure

Ellen is tired of weeding out the duds in the dating pool of guys, so she joined Detailed Dating. They'll do it for her by asking the "hard questions" and she can pick from those she's most compatible with. She's got two potential guys to choose from and she can't wait to meet them. When her best friend Rachel has a hot date Ellen babysits her spoiled pup. Puppy sitting doesn't go well and Ellen ends up with running the pooch to the vet where she meets Henry. She's so taken with him she signs the puppy up for obedience classes just so she can see Henry again. Ellen can't stop thinking about Henry even though they don't seem to have anything in common and isn't that what makes a relationship successful?

This is a fun story about a woman trying to find the perfect guy for her. Ellen thinks she knows what will make a relationship last but finds out that what she thinks may be wrong. That the guy she doesn't seem to have much in common with may be her perfect match. The dates with the guys Detailed Dating picked for her didn't go so well and one was pretty hilarious. I liked the way Ellen handled the guy that doctored his profile picture for Detailed Dating--she was nice about it and actually gave him good advice.

I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator did a wonderful job with the voices of the characters and getting the feelings of the story across.
