Publisher's Summary

When hostage negotiator Rafe Mancuso takes a bullet to save Sara Rios, his former partner, his actions make him a bona fide hero - and New York City’s newest most eligible bachelor. Then Rafe admits that Sara is much more than just another woman he’s rescued. Suddenly, a firestorm of gossip turns him into exactly what he doesn’t want to be: the Bachelor Blog’s newest hot topic. His only solution is to leave town and get himself out of the spotlight...and sexy, jaded Sara out of his mind.

NYPD Officer Sara Rios has Rafe to thank for saving her life and Rafe to blame for the media chaos surrounding her. She wants to throw herself back into duty at full throttle, but until her injuries heal, she’s on leave and in search of her rescuer. From the moment she finds Rafe and meets his large, boisterous family, she’s hooked. But mutual attraction doesn’t always mean happily ever after, and these two have a long way to go to find their fairy-tale ending.

Narrator killed a not so great story

The narrator had very little voice inflection and I was often confused as to which character was speaking. Transitions between the storyline were abrupt. Not impressed.

I Could not get past the first chapter. Restarted 3 times. The first and last time I read a book with this narrator! 😟

not sure what I think

the story line was pretty good. some parts just felt like it was dragging on a bit. but that also could have been the narrorator. she was VERY monotone the entire story. couldn't really tell the difference in voice changes for characters. I feel like I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if it had someone else reading aloud.

So close!

3.5 Stars for me!

My rating range throughout the story... 2 - 4.25 Stars

Main Character Ratings... H = 7 - h = 4

Scenes with heat.. Several

Heat Rating... 6
Clean - 1 or 2
Descriptive Sex - 5 or above
Beyond Descriptive Sex - 8 or above

The back story... H and h are at an event and a hostage situation occurs. Both are Police Officers and are injured while taking down the perp. The h is also a witness to a high profile murder and has to get out of town when a local blog publishes stories about her.

The Romance... Always there but medium burn

The drama explosion... TSTL moment due to h's anxiety.

Final Notes... I liked the story and it could have easily been a solid 4-5 Star listen for me. The h is constantly lamenting about how no relationship will work for her because of how she was brought up. The TSTL moment drove me crazy as it was beyond idiotic.

HEA or HFN? HFN

Good Story. Bad Narrator.

The story was written well but the narrators voice was soooo depressing that it was a struggle to listen without getting depressed from her tone

New Narrator Needed

The monotone voice of the narrator made the story hard to get excited about.

hard to follow

I have to agree with another reviewer. It was difficult to follow the narrator trying to discern if she was speaking for Sara or Rafe during lost of the book.

Monotone narration

Couldn’t finish .
Why does the narrator sound so monotone , it was hard to continue listening.
No emotion. The story will be good if someone else would narrate .

Enjoyable story,

I enjoyed this story I found in the Audible Plus selection. Former partners Rafe and Sara who secretly fought feelings for each other are forced to admit those feelings in this story with twists and turns and action. I liked how there were other side stories going on within the book too. Rafe and Sara have some trial and tribulations but eventually find their way to their HEA. I did struggle some with the narration as far as differentiating who was "speaking" a lot of the time, especially whether the speaker was female or male as it just seemed to me the voices weren't that different to distinguish between.
