Water for the thirsty soul of a new widower !
If you could sum up Love Heals in three words, what would they be?
Accurate, Inspirational, Realistic, Spiritual. Yes, that's four words couldn't sum it up in three.
What other book might you compare Love Heals to and why?
I've listened to some other books which are good for grieving but this one is a nice one hour size which allows me to listen to it for a recharge when I need it. The first time I listened twice because it was so informative but didn't overload my grieving mind with too much.
What does Miles O'Brien Riley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The passion about the topic in his voice adds an extra dimension. I could feel that he could relate to this topic by his tonal inflections at places that only a grieving person would understand.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Love Transforms Grief into Life
Any additional comments?
My wife transitioned beyond this world a few weeks ago (a couple of weeks before Christmas). Though I'm a psychologist and familiar with death because I have worked in situations with the dying, the transitioning of my wife was personal. We were making preparations as the Inflammatory Breast Cancer ravaged her. We prepared spiritually, mentally, financially, physically, and she even planned her memorial...still the grief hit me hard. Slowly after the shock of her death, grief began inching up on me and then coming in torrents on and off. This book speaks in a way that I found unique. I was immediately drawn in by the author's mix of practical stories from his work, essential spiritual truths, and pragmatic suggestions. As a psychologist and a newly grieving widower, I strongly recommend this audiobook.
