A group of teens partying at a strip pit called “the nut” encounter a horrific creature stalking the backwoods of their rural Indiana community. They narrowly escape with their lives, but they are not the only ones to report recent sightings of the cryptid.
As word spreads, a young reporter, Diana “DeeDee” Dickinson, assigned her first story from the Terre Haute Tribune-Star, is sent to uncover the truth behind these so-called “Dogman” sightings that the local sheriff believes are merely cases of mistaken identity. The sheriff believes that the animal is merely a rogue bear that has made its way up north from Kentucky or Tennessee. DeeDee’s editor demands answers, but what does he really want? Does he want the truth, or simply sensational headlines to sell newspapers?
However, as the sightings, and bodies, pile up, the sheriff’s and young reporter’s skepticism wanes. Finally realizing that the Loup Garou is real, shaking their belief systems to the core, they must stop the monstrous beast before more innocent lives are lost.
A key to this mystery may be the enigmatic stranger that has recently arrived in town. Why is he here, and what does he know about this cryptid? And why is she so drawn to a man she has never met? The answer to those questions is precisely what our young reporter intends to find out, but that dogged pursuit of the truth may put her on a head on encounter with the savage beast. Will she survive long enough to tell her story?
