Story
The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.

.. and nothing but the truth
Having completed the series I have to say I am disappointed there are only four books. As stories go this one is one of the best. I don't know if it is Dawn (Kim's) writing but coupled with Marguerite Gavin's narration it makes me listen to the series often, it is just so enjoyable.
The story leaves me thinking I know the characters. I find them to have real depth and have developed a real fondness for them.
I would really love to see a sequel to the series. I find I have question at the end that stretch my imagination.
This is a good book with great narration. Listen to it! Please. I believe you will enjoy it.

I really enjoyed this series. I was so hesitant to get into it because it's teen, but ultimately glad I did. I listened to all three in a row and was sad when it ended. I felt like I could continue enjoying stories in that world. I hope she revives it, even if it's with different characters.

Narrator flaws otherwise excellent story
As usual, Dawn Cook has crafted a very good book, but the narrator spoiled it for me. She was great when telling the story in the third person and when taking the part of the female lead character, but she was unable to speak the key male character's part without ruining it. Apparently not having developed
the ability to mimic a convincing foreign accent, she resorted to a weird-sounding fake sing-song that was primarily distinguished by putting the emphasis on words that should not have been emphasized. This made it sound as if the narrator did not understand the meaning of the words she spoke and was quite irritating. If you can overlook that, you will probably enjoy this book.

I really enjoyed these 3 books
after not expecting much from the front pictures, I have been greatly entertained by this series of books.
I suggest someone who has read the books illustrates any following publications.
The story rotates around one heroine who is not at all frilly or unable to cope with problems and all the men with whom she relates, there are other women but only as side actors.

Nice series
I've enjoyed this series but found Loadish(?), Strell & Alissa obnoxious and ignorant in this last book. The men were both overbearing and expectant in a way that would surely put most other women off too. Alissa was no better, stringing them both along and being as fickle a possible.
They all got much better in the last third of the book, I'm pleased to say.
The narration was consistently good throughout.

Do yourself a favour and listen to all 4 books. Although the start is slow, and it’s a bit slow at beginning of the third book, the developing story hooks you in. During the 4th book there are lots of ah-ha moments that were presented in the earlier books. An intricately woven storyline to enjoy

Story
It should have been a case like any other: a missing princess, a king willing to pay in gold for her return. But before he realizes it, private investigator Eddie LaCrosse, a slightly shopworn sword jockey with a talent for discretion and detection, is swept up in a web of mystery and deceit involving a brutally murdered royal heir, a queen accused of an unspeakable crime, and the tragic past he thought he'd left behind.
