Publisher's summary

If Lorelei sings, someone will die.

Her beautiful voice once cost a life. Still, music is her passion. What's a mermaid to do? Run off and live vicariously through mortal musicians!

Unfortunately, gorgeous rocker Vance Idol almost succumbs to her siren call after his show in Nashville. Not that Vance cares - not since his girlfriend's fatal overdose left him with a supersized death wish. Lorelei makes it her mission to undo the damage and help this talented and charismatic man on the eve of his band's big break.

But saving a mortal man is a dangerous proposition. Lorelei could far too easily lose her heart, and quite possibly her immortality, during her American holiday. Bad boy Vance might be worth the risk.

Can their love survive his attitude, her fins, and an evil pixie with a grudge against them both?

"Lorelei's Lyric is brilliantly clever with its unique blend of Southern humor and poignant mermaid mythology. Modern-day siren, Lorelei, traveling to The Music City of Nashville? One helluva great premise that hooked me at page one! I fell in love with this shape-shifting siren and her romance with aspiring rocker Vance Idol. One of those rare books that will have you laughing and sighing and crying, touching your heart just as great music touches your soul. A must-read! (Debbie Herbert, USA Today best-selling author of the Dark Seas series - Siren's Secret, Siren's Treasure, and Siren's Call)

"Lorelei's Lyric made me swoon! A perfect blend of mermaid magic and rock-star grit, Sieders' charming, irresistibly sexy tale gives us a love story to believe in. I can't wait to read more!" (Jeri Smith-Ready, award-winning author of Requiem for the Devil, the WVMP Radio series, and the Shade Trilogy)

Love Lorelei’s Lyric!

I very much enjoyed listening to this!!! Vincent seems so lost and alone in the beginning.. I felt bad for him. I was drawn into the story of these two very quickly and had a hard time stopping when I needed to do something else!!! I love the way it all played out and that they loved each other through everything!!

Stephanie Kay does a wonderful job with the narration and her voice is so smooth and easy to listen to!

Mermaids!

First and foremost, Mermaids! I love books with mermaids in them!

This book does have some heavy underlying material, for example, Vance's struggle with addiction. It is laced with a messages of overcoming one's demons, fighting for what you love, and facing your fears (even if they are your mother). Additionally, there is the challenge of the ancient curse that Lorelei must overcome. I loved Vance and Lorelei as characters and I especially enjoyed listening as their love for each other grew. Although, there were a few instances where I actually started to think that this wasn't going to be a happily ever after for Vance and Lorelei. I think the author did a pretty good job keeping the story somewhat realistic outside of the obviously paranormal aspects. The author also did a great developing the characters and had a pretty good plot with some steamy scenes. There were tiny instances where the story dragged a smidge, but not too much.

The narrator did a fabulous job on this performance! I think she was able to perfectly depict the gravity of some of the heavier aspects of the novel in the inflection of her voice. She was also able to accentuate the lighter, more exciting, and romantic parts. The narrator made it easy to distinguish between characters via voice association and she kept her voice consistent with each designated character throughout; in addition, she kept the speed of her narration consistent.

Overall, I enjoyed this somewhat heavy hearted romance.

I look forward to more novels by the author and future performances by this narrator.

I LIKED IT!

I really enjoyed this book. It had the mythical beings, magic and romance. The narration was good and kept you entertained. This author did a great job with her characters. This was my first book by this author but definitely will not be my last. I looking forward to reading the other books in this series! Lorelei's Lyric

I'm a reader that loves to read books that step outside of their genre's comfort zone. Lorelei's Lyric is typical in some ways, but in other ways, it is different. Especially having a hero who is a drug addict and emotionally wounded, which gave the story depth and kept me interested in the lives of Lorelei and Vance. It also made me want to read the other books in this series.

I did not think the narration was good, but it was not bad. I do not feel that the narrator was able to convey each character's personality in a way that gave them their own uniqueness. Overall, I recommend this audiobook. I feel it will give the reader a mini mental vacation. In other words, it will relax you and cause you to fantasize about Loreli's world.

Wow.

I really enjoyed this one. Lorelei just wanted to find true love, I enjoyed reading about her dedication to help Vance even though she had nothing to gain. Really emotional story but definitely a great one. Great narration as well.

Very enjoyable

I have been living into paranormal romance story lately and the tropes are becoming apparent. Fortunately, for me this book did not follow all the tropes.

Lorelei is a nixie. Her greatest joy is also her curse; her songs can kill humans. While vacationing, she find herself listening to Vance`s song in a bar. Entranced by the song, Lorelei can`t help but sing it herself later on but is overheard by Vance who almost drown. Lorelei takes it upon herself to nurse him back to health and gets a little more than she planned for.

Lorelei, while very old, is still naïve and clueless about parts of the human world. She knows the gist of it and stand on her own two leg among other things. She is confident in her abilities and she takes no bullshit from anyone. She knows what she wants and how to get it.

On the other hand, Vance is like a beat up dog. He lost what he had and his life is just going darker and darker. While I have never abused substance, I think the author did a great job in illustrating the pulls it can have on a human brain. Vance’s life has not been rosy and there is no turning back time for him.

Lorelei push Vance to the point where he tells her off. The chemistry is there and they both feel it and wants it but what if Vance can`t accept Lorelei for what she is or what if Lorelei isn’t able to deal with Vance’s past.

If you are into the explicit relationship, it`s pretty tame. There is intercourse and allusion to hard or wet places but nothing too graphics.

This was a great discovery. I am quite happy that I requested a copy of this book to review.

I was provided a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Original Paranormal Romance

This was my first D.B. Sieder's book. This is the first book in the Southern Elemental Guardians Series. This was a good start to the Series. The story was interesting, with great characters, and an intriguing storyline filled with mystery. This paranormal romance was original and emotional. I loved the Epilogue. Stefanie Kay was a new narrator to me. Overall, the narration was well done, but a little distracting to me, maybe because of the intonation for some voices.
