Publisher's summary

Three lives will change the destiny of nations. Helikaon, the young prince of Dardania, haunted by a scarred and traumatic childhood. The priestess Andromache, whose fiery spirit and fierce independence threatens the might of kings. And the legendary warrior Argurios, cloaked in loneliness and driven only by thoughts of revenge.

In Troy they find a city torn apart by destructive rivalries - a maelstrom of jealousy, deceit and murderous treachery. And beyond its fabled walls blood-hungry enemies eye its riches and plot its downfall. It is a time of bravery and betrayal; a time of bloodshed and fear. A time for heroes.

Romance, tragedy, battle, humor and heart. Artistically blended onto a masterpiece. Can't wait to start the next book.

Interesting take on the classic tale

Lord of the Silver Bow is my first David Gemmell book i've read and i am so happy that i did read his book. The book is very entertaining and never lagged from page 1 to the end there was something interesting happening.

As the series titles, this story is about the Trojan war but it is not about the common Helen and Paris story. The story revolves around Helikaon and Andromache and their lives and politics and the lifestyle of eastern and western kingdoms during that age. This change in the main characters made the story very refreshing and new way of looking at the old and classic story.

The secondary characters also was very well developed like Argurios, Priam, Laodike etc. at the end of the book i needed more and very soon ill start the second book of the trilogy and excited to start other books and series of David Gemmell.

A brilliant re-imagining of timeless epic the Iliad

This is a brilliant re-imagining of the timeless epic, the Iliad. But it is so much more. Several intertwined live stories, courageous heroes fighting for honor and glory, and justice meted out to the villains. Added to this is the poetic beauty of the writing. An the splendid narration makes for a perfect listen.

A wonderful work of art

Gemmell is amazing and I wish that this series was more popular and had a film adaptation. Being that its historical fiction, it takes many liberties with the source material but masterfully crafts the narrative to resemble what we know of Homers work. And Judds amazing narrative skill adds to the entertainment that is this series. Ive read (and listened) to many books in my time and this series is still my all time favorite. I read this series every few months beginning to end and its still fascinating. Please read it. You will not be disappointed.

A Favourite

I first read this book over ten years ago, while I was in high school. It flared in me a passion for the bronze age and the Trojan War specifically. It is this story that truly captures the enchanting romanticism of the age (or rather, of the stories of that age) above all others. This has been my fourth read-through now, which is rare thing. I can only name a few other titles I've wanted to read even twice.

I'd been waiting for an audiobook version ever since I started indulging in this medium, and I can happily say Thomas Judd has done an excellent job. Consider this fan extremely satisfied.
