Publisher's Summary

Ganesha has an elephant’s head, a pot belly and a rollicking sense of fun. Full of mischief, he fools around with gods and humans alike. He is also wise and shrewd, gentle and compassionate. These tales of Lord Ganesha include old mythological favourites, like the stories about his birth and how he got his elephant head. Alongside are little-known tales dug up from ancient texts: how Ganesha created the tabla, how he stopped Ravana from becoming all-powerful, how he raced around the world without moving an inch, and how he swallowed Vishnu, Brahma and Lakshmi in one big gulp! Each tale is told with sparkling wit to match that of the boisterous god.

A lovely collection of Lord Ganesha tales!

Although these are meant as moral stories for kids, I thoroughly enjoyed each one. As a retired teacher & reading specialist, I still appreciate great kiddy lit.

Sweet Stories

I love hindu mythology, and Ganesh is my favorite diety! This is a great collection of short stories featuring Ganesh. I listen to it in the evenings, like bedtime stories for a 40 year old!

I am particular about narrators, and I feel that the woman who read this was spot on. Not too dramatic, yet adding emphasis when appropriate.

I wish there was more audiobooks just like this one.

My son loves it!

This is very well performed collection of stories about Ganesha, the little potbellied elephant-headed God of Hinduism. It's funny and on several occasions causes my son to laugh out loudly. As a result of repeatedly listening to these stories, he is an ardent admirer of Ganesha. We find ourselves discussing the ethic undercurrents and what all else Ganesha might be up to. The stories quickly became a staple of our pre-dinner evenings.

Enchanting

Any additional comments?

This book is full of enchanting stories of Lord Ganesha and a supporting cast of other Hindu deities. These children friendly (PG) stories are full of colorful scenarios with moral lessons and memorable characters. The narration is very well done; the only thing that could be better is if there was more to listen to.
