Almost offensively diluted (VERY basic)

I can’t get behind this at all. I think Dr Lasater has depth of yogic knowledge, however this book is so diluted and represents ignorant modern manipulation of yoga (which I can only assume is intentionally done to make it an easy entry point for individuals new to yoga, and I can forgive it for such, but that intention should be more clearly stated). It’s based on a flawed misrepresentation that yoga is primarily a physical practice, and presents the idea of daily spiritual life (“off the mat”) as being novel. If you are brand new to yoga, I expect this is a great and perhaps inspiring launch point, but please please know that this book involves gross oversight/manipulation in order to make it “relatable.” I think a title change “A Beginner’s Guide to Living Yoga” would do wonders.

Good read!

I like the beginning of this book the best because she describes some of the basic yoga concepts very well. She quotes a lot of Sanskrit and then translates the meaning into English, I could have done without her reading the Sanskrit. If you like “homework” this book will be very valuable, but for someone who has an insanely busy schedule, that part of each chapter won’t be of use to you. Overall a good, but not amazing book.

Nice for the Yogis

I loved the book and little suggestions to practice everyday mindfulness. Especially how to add it into my own practice, as well as while I move throughout my day.

Inspiring and actionable!

This book is a welcomed and wonderful addition to my collection. It is easy to listen to and very organized while offering many actionable steps. I will certainly be listening to this many times to work through each step and ordering the hard copy. To the author and reader, thank you for offering such quality material. Namaste
