Here is a little about Transforming Tessa, my latest Midlife Moxie novel—the back cover copy and my Author’s Notes—as well as some thoughts I wanted to share about grief and loss, life changes and transitions. Writing Tessa’s story brought up a lot of memories for me— memories of fear, uncertainty, self-doubt and of course the pain of losing people I loved dearly. Cliff Lovette practiced entertainment law for over 40 years, representing multi-platinum artists like Usher and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, and serving as SVP of Legal at LaFace Records under LA Reid and Babyface.

A graduate of Tufts University and Emory Law School, he advocates for reconciliation and justice, having co-produced a historic event connecting descendants of Buffalo Soldiers and Lakota Native Americans, and leading a campaign to rename Fort Benning after Lieutenant Henry Ossian Flipper, the first African American graduate of West Point.

He lives in Sandy Springs, Georgia, with his dog London. Circus Bim Bom: A Cold War Adventure is his debut novel.

Brittany Micka-Foos is a writer living in the Pacific Northwest. She is the author of the short story collection It’s No Fun Anymore (Apprentice House, 2025) and the poetry chapbook a litany of words as fragile as window glass (Bottlecap Press, 2024).

Susan Poole is a mother, lawyer, freelance writer, and nonprofit professional. She was awarded the 2023 Rising Star Award from the Women’s Fiction Writers Association (WFWA) for her debut novel, Out of the Crash.

Susan's essays have been featured on the popular parenting websites Grown and Flown and Scary Mommy. Additionally, she has published two nonfiction pieces: a memoir in Neighborhood Voices and an article about her experience as a wrestling mom in Grapple Alley.
