    For more than two decades, Orrin Evans has made an art form of the unexpected. With more than 25 albums to his credit without ever relying on the support of a major label, Evans has become the model of a fiercely independent artist who’s made a habit of rattling the jazz world’s confining cages earning multiple Grammy nominations and performing groundbreaking work with the Bad Plus.     Akron based guitarist and Mack Avenue music group recording artist dan Wilson has paid multiple visits to the bop stop over the years when he isn't busy touring with joey DeFrancesco and Christian McBride’s tip city project and it is always an outstanding and unique night of jazz.

    Dan joined us in support of his new album vessels of wood and earth with a trio that includes jeff Grubbs on bass and David Throckmorton on drums. From an October 23rd, 2021 performance it’s the Dan Wilson Trio -Live at the Bop Stop.

    New York City based trombonist Sam Blakeslee comes home to celebrate the release of his new album the long middle with his quartet ‘Wistful Thinking’.     One of the best parts of The Bop Stop is the opportunity to showcase up and coming talent from all around the Midwest, and saxophonist Thomas Shinabeck certainly meets that definition. This talented young saxophonist has cut his teeth alongside jazz greats such as Terrance Blanchard and Dominic Faranucci.

    This performance features Thomas leading a quintet of friend, peers and tutors including Tim Lekan on Bass, Tommy Lehman on Trumpet, Tim Picard on guitar and Thomas on saxophone.

    Cleveland is one of a select group of cities lucky enough to have a stand alone full on jazz orchestra.
