Publisher's Summary

In long-term relationships, we often expect our beloved to be both best friend and erotic partner. But as Esther Perel argues, good and committed sex draws on two conflicting needs: our need for security and our need for surprise. So how do you sustain desire? With wit and eloquence, Perel lets us in on the mystery of erotic intelligence.

Don’t miss the Audible Original series, Where Should We Begin? With Esther Perel, in which she speaks to anonymous couples about their struggles to maintain desire and intimacy. More details at audible.com/estherperel.

ground shaking

I applied my personal relationships when role playing would have probably solved my future ex husbands that got away. I am honored by this couple; to let strangers this experience with them. Wonderful insight and education to powerfully (re)introduce the complexity of attraction.

Riveting... Engaging & Enlighting

Esther has a way of making her subject matter come alive.. her thought process is spot on to what reality really "is" ... but what we as beings either never knew or have forgotten for many and various reasons... this is my 5th listen through and I ponder 🤔 and learn more... not just knowledge but understanding that can be applied...

getting back to the meaning of eros

appreciated the ideas put forth here, including that we are for the first time requiring life partners to meet a broad set of needs that a village used to provide. and how do you get back to desire in all of that.
