Publisher's summary

Finding one's calling is not just about finding something we can do - it is about finding what we can't not do. "Let your life speak" is a time-honored Quaker admonition to live one's life as witness to the deepest truths one knows. But as Parker Palmer explains, those words can also mean "listen to your life, and let it tell you what your truth is." Vocation, he writes, comes not from external demands but from listening to the true self, a listening that will always call us into some form of service to others. Though the details of our journey are singular, we draw from it that which is universal. This book is a moving and illuminating guide for anyone who seeks not just a job but a calling and companionship along the way.

Critic reviews

"A quiet but memorable addition to the inspirational field, this book has the quality of a finely worked homily. The writing displays a gentle wisdom and economy of style that leaves the reader curious for more insight into the author's Quaker philosophy." - ( Publishers Weekly)

Excellent

I am amused at how similar Stefan's voice is to Parker Palmer's - not the same, but close enough to make you pause. Great, clear reading with the same humility with which Palmer writes. So much good stuff in the book to think about, too. I think I'm going to listen to it again now.

Looking for your true path? Listen to this book.

It is short and a quick read or listen but profound in meaning. It is beautifully written and the narrator does this justice. It is full of antidotes, examples and humble thoughts. By the end I wanted to buy a copy for all my nearest and dearest. If you are sick of living life on the surface only - read this book. It is a good guide to going deeper and finding real meaning.

an enjoyable read

I loved this book. the light fun sense of humor the author had while discussing his own life as well as his honest and very serious discussion on his struggle with clinical depression make this a very accessible and interesting read. it is an excellent way to reflect on your own life as well which you can't help but do as he takes you through his own ups and downs.

Be who you are

What I have found really inspiring is the honesty that the author dive into his deepest experience and combine that poetically with his view of been, leadership, depression, community and life!
