Publisher's summary

He's dedicated his life to saving missing persons, but will it be enough to save himself? Alex Mercer traded in his troubled past to protect the powerless. His blog for tracking down missing persons got his foot in the door at the police academy. But on his first day of training, a heroic act drops him into the hands of the captors he once hunted. Zoey planned to tell Alex how she felt the night he disappeared. As she and Alex's family discover the bloody signs of his fate, past regrets and dark secrets begin to come to light. It's enough to tear Alex's loved ones apart. Without hope of rescue, Alex must rely on his cunning to escape captivity. In his line of work, he knows all too well that each passing hour could kill his chances of survival.

Want more

I love this series of books & the characters in them. You become invested in their lives, there safety & the way the family manages to stay stronger together no matter what they have been through. My only complaint is the storyline is too similar. Hopefully no one else in the family will get kidnapped.

How many kidnappings can 1 family have???

It's kind of funny that one of the characters in the story said just what I was thinking, "How many bad things can happen to one family?" First it was Alex's sister, then daughter and now him. Are there no other families in town worth taking? This book was just a little off for me and I'm not just talking about the character Sage. There just wasn't much about it that made sense. If Sage wanted to eliminate cops, why was she kidnapping people in the academy? Why not just cops? Just too many strange things about this book. The title didn't even really play much of a part in the story. I'd like to say I'm learning more about the characters, but I'm just seeing them in the same scenario over and over.

Engrossing and Engaging

This is the third book I’ve read in this series and I think the best one so far. I thought that I might not be able to get past a third kidnapping within the same character group, but the story was so real and so detailed, that I found myself needing to know what happened next. This author has a way of tying things together and giving the reader vivid pictures of the story in their mind as they’re reading it, and I think that’s a sign of great writing. I was almost sad to have it end!

Could be a very good series...

This is the third book in the Alex Mercer series. I did enjoy it but... how màny people in one family can be kidnapped? First Alex's sister, then his daughter, then his sister again and now Alex himself. I get rescuing kidnapped victims and this is a good story, I just think the author needs to have him rescuing people that aren't him or his family. The book is good, not as good as the first two but entertaining. Some parts just not very believable (like needed supplies turning up when they are needed). However, this is fiction and I got seven hours of amusement.
Rachel Dulude does an excellent job narrating.

Lots of suspense; very satisfying conclusion!

Little Lies, Book 3 in the Alex Mercer thriller series, is an excellent addition. Narration is excellent. I expect Book 4 in the series, Against All Odds, to be released in audio format next month.
