Publisher's summary

An all-new epic tale of terror and redemption set in the hinterlands of midcentury New Mexico from the acclaimed author of The Troop - which Stephen King raved "scared the hell out of me and I couldn't put it down...old-school horror at its best."

From electrifying horror author Nick Cutter comes a haunting new novel, reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian and Stephen King's It, in which a trio of mismatched mercenaries is hired by a young woman for a deceptively simple task: check in on her nephew, who may have been taken against his will to a remote New Mexico backwoods settlement called Little Heaven. Shortly after they arrive, things begin to turn ominous. Stirrings in the woods and over the treetops - the brooding shape of a monolith known as the Black Rock casts its terrible pall. Paranoia and distrust grips the settlement. The escape routes are gradually cut off as events spiral towards madness. Hell - or the closest thing to it - invades Little Heaven. The remaining occupants are forced to take a stand and fight back, but whatever has cast its dark eye on Little Heaven is now marshaling its powers...and it wants them all.

good listen

this was a well done story with great narration. i also like that it was all in one story and not split into 2 like so many other author's would have done with an audio book.

Wonderful

This is the first book that has literally made me feel sick to my stomach on several occasions. and I find that that is a very positive occurrence. proof how engrossed I was. with the words of this book and the performance of the reader. highly recommend for those that can stomach it.

Love it!

Feels like a Stephen King story without being quite as voluminous. Developed characters, truly unique horrors, and a large cast make this a fun ride

A unique horror experience

Very unsettling story, just what I was looking for, narrators audio levels fluctuate though, however it was a still well narrated, each character has their own voice which is well distinguishable from the others, my only gripe was what seemed to be poor audio equipment used when recording.

What’s not to love?

Cory Brill is an outstanding narrator. He takes the words from Nick Cutter and adds weight to every horrific scene in the book.

If you love horror, this is for you.
Also recommend The Troop, by Nick Cutter. One Notch above this fantastic work.

Just. Wow.

Not for the faint of heart. Parts are quite disturbing, especially if you are a parent. I dont want to hype it up so much that you are disappointed. But, this was well worth the money I used to buy it, and the time I took to listen to it. If you are trolling around audiobooks unsure of what to 'read'.....this is the one.

I can see why Stephen King is a fan...

Such a creepy writer who convincingly builds solid characters before tearing them down. The Troop remains my Nick Cutter favorite. Little Heaven is up there though.

Overload

There is no doubt that Nick Cutter is an extremely talented writer, but I found the descriptions of the utterly grotesque sickening. It will be a long time before I can read Cutter again.
Brilliant performance by Corey Brill.

Nick Cutter does it to me again!!!

I’ve read the deep and the troop but Little Heaven is by far my favorite…mixing so many things I love to read about…horror, cults, assassins, and body horror he truly knows how to keep you gripped on the edge of your seat. Only Stephen King, Joe Hill, and Clive Barker have been able to grip me and now I can add Nick Cutter. He has truly become one of my favorite horror authors. Thank you for writing such suspenseful novels in horrifyingly gruesome detail.
