Good narration, but story lacked depth

I enjoyed the character voices that the narrator created, but the story itself was repetitive and never dove into details. Journalist Jonae Bates is always on the cusp having found deep corruption in the local police department, but the exact nature of the corruption is never revealed. The themes of the book are important, and they need to be addressed in our society, but this book danced around the details. In many ways the structure felt like it was written by AI and guided by a human. The ending left many questions unanswered. That said, the human narrator -- Kristin McGriff -- did a great job with the material and kept me listening.
