Finding Talents

Cooper had always been able to sense the underlying structure of the earth beneath the surface. He could instinctively tell where it would be safe to build, or if the shale under the dirt would shift the building's foundation. It helped him acquire his architecture degree.

When he met Ashe, a man with an affinity for water, Cooper began to understand that his knowledge of earth was not something everyone could do.

Both Ashe and Cooper had the opportunity to explore their unusual talents as they work together on a project to remodel a row of historic townhouses. The river nearby was filled with chemicals from coal mining in bygone days. Ashe has a driving desire to heal the river.

Cooper's personality is as unyielding as the earth he stands upon. Ashe is as mecurical as the water's current. Opinions clash, egos engage. Can they eork together for the betterment of their city?

Narrator Kevin Chandler has a very nice voice, but for me it is too calming and soothing. I drifted off more than once listening to the book and had to rewind. I am very happy I was not driving!

A wonderful new series!

This is a fantastic new Universe, and Ash and Cooper are great characters. I find truly interesting the concept of this world, with people who have powers related to the elements, and I'm really looking forward to delving into in with the next books.

In this first one,we are introduced to the main characters. Cooper is a newly graduated architect who has spent his life thinking that there is something wrong with him; Ash is a young man who talks to water and hired Cooper to help him with the rescue of an old and very polluted industrial property.

And, even as Cooper always saw himself as a straight man, he can't deny that there is something between them. And that something keeps growing when Ash, after assuring him that he isn't insane and what he sees is real, begins to train him to help him with his powers. Until a training session gets a bit playful, and they discover that letting themselves go might cause some little issues. Like storms, flooding and earthquakes :P

An excellent story; and Kevin Chandler narration is perfect :)

Elementalist and romance

received a free copy of the audiobook for an honest review.

Cooper is a newly licensed architect trying to start his own business. He's had professional issues ever since he was accused of cheating in college and having to move to complete his degree. He see things other people cannot see. Things in the earth and rocks, He can see connections in the earth, tunnels, etc. He thinks he's a little crazy and is afraid to speak about it to anyone because no one believes him. According to him, his parents are hippy types and don't understand him.

Enter Ash. Ash is an environmentalist and developer. He is also a water elementalist. He hires Cooper for his new land development project.

Through their first interaction we find out that Cooper is an earth elementalist. He is obviously untrained and inexperienced.

Cooper had never been interested in men before he met Ash but he is strongly attracted to him. Due to his inexperience controlling his powers, they cause major damage to the city when they first are together.

There is really no relationship development. We go though a lot of development project process and Cooper trying to learn how to control his powers. The relationship is really disjointed.

No real enemy to overcome but Cooper's inexperience and financial issues.
