Three women…three generations…the truth swimming in the distance.

Lydia Franklin is starting middle school and is experiencing the choppy waves of friendship. Having spent her childhood along the banks of Lake Caywood, splashing and palling around with Sam Finley, she now wants to steer clear of the boy she once called a friend. The reason for this, however, is a mystery even to her.

Jenny Johnson left Seattle with one goal: to forget the relationship that she lost. Having settled into her position as an English teacher at the local middle school, Jenny should be moving forward, but she finds that she’s treading water, struggling to make new connections and friends in a place that is so unfamiliar.

Ruby Gallagher’s home atop the hill is at the center of a town debate. The truth behind why she refuses to sell is a story she won’t share with just anyone, and as Petey Goode investigates, it becomes clear that Ruby’s story has the words to explain not only her own truth, but Jenny and Lydia’s as well.

The story, as a whole, is impressive. The web of characters… the intersection of plots… the pacing… the imagery… How it was done, I’d love to know: everything about it continues to impress me.

The narration is PHENOMENAL. Cassandra Alling brought this novel to life in a way that’ll have readers laughing and crying the whole way through. Her interpretation of the animals Jenny talks to is outstanding and she accurately depicts Ruby as both a young woman and an old lady. The voices of Lydia, Sam, Gabe, and Chap are also excellent. She excels at reading young characters.

Here’s hoping this duo is able to bring the world more audiobooks because they seem to work well together!

Everything about this? I loved. ❤️

Like a Flip Turn is impossible to put down, or in this case, stop listening to!! This book is narrated by three separate female characters, which creates a story that never loses speed. Alling’s reading, where she captures the personality of each character through her changing voices, pairs perfectly with Rae’s
descriptive and beautiful writing. The characters, and the way their lives overlap, will tap into your emotions and make you truly attached to each one and their story.
This is a must read!!!

Absolute must read!!!

Like A Flip Turn is a must read/listen! The story follows three women from three different generations whose stories intertwine throughout the novel. The novel contains magical elements that enhance the story, but the true magic comes from Rae’s vivid writing and lovable characters and Alling’s amazing performance. Both transport you to Lake Caywood and bring the characters to life. Like A Flip Turn is a novel that everyone will enjoy.

Absolute Magic!

Every now and then you come across one of those books you know will you remember forever. For me, this is it. Hannah Rae manages to weave in a bit of everything I love in a story. A small town setting, characters going through major life shifts, poetry, pain, and magic. I took my time listening to the incredible narration, in a STUNNING performance by Cassandra Alling, and knew this one was a winner when I grieved its ending. The voices of the characters, the settings, are all a part of me now. It's simply that good.

A book that will become a part of you.
