Publisher's Summary

“Small towns aren’t for me. It’s a nice change of pace, but I’m going to help out Dale and then get out - back to the city.”

Ronan loves his life in the big city - but he needs a break, and when his good friend Dale asks for some help in getting his small-town animal hospital running more efficiently, he sees it as the perfect chance. A little R&R while still feeling like he’s doing meaningful work - can’t get better than that.

"Who does he think he is, coming in here and "showing us how it’s done"? He’s a complete jerk, and I can’t wait for him to leave."

Oliver’s worked at Sunnydale Animal Hospital for years before it belonged to Sunny and Dale, and the transition to new ownership is leaving him feeling a bit out of place. When Dale asks Ronan to come out to help him with the clinic, Oliver is prepared to hate Ronan on sight - but he’s totally caught off guard when Ronan captures his heart.

Welcome to Sunnydale Vets, where love is the best medicine, and all it takes to fix your problems is the willingness to roll up your sleeves and get to work. This heartwarming audiobook features a city alpha, a small-town omega, and one glorious transformation from enemies to lovers.

Enemies to lovers

When Ronan came to a small town to work along side his friend he never intended to stay long. Being from the big city Ronan never thought a small town would be home to him until he met Oliver. Ronan got under Oliver's skin in all the best ways. Realizing they were meant for each other Ronan left the big city behind to find his happiness with Oliver and start a family together. This story doesn't start out sweet but it sure does end up that way.
Guillaume Dubois does a wonderful job narrating this story.

Can a New York guy live in a small town?

Can small town life attract a big town guy? The town grows on Ronan as well as the clinic supervisor. The two tangle "like cats and dogs" who ultimately come together for an HEA. I loved the story and characters. I almost stopped listening to the book because of how unhappy I was with the narrator. I feel the narrator depicts Omegas as far too feminine.

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening, but not more then twice a year.
it's like a B

Great New Addition

Ronan and Oliver get along like oil and water. Ronan leaves a busy New York practice to help out the Sunnydale vets. Oliver supervises the practice and resents Ronan, viewing him as an outsider. Both men make judgements, without really knowing each other. Things come to a head and explode sexually. Once they get to know each other, Ronan and Oliver develop a relationship. They grow very close. Ronan is asked to return to New York. He doesn’t really want to go, but that was the plan, wasn’t it? Oliver doesn’t want Ronan to go, but doesn’t want to beg. Like Cats and Dogs is a story that will warm your heart. Take the time to listen and enjoy. It will be worth your while. The narrator Guillaume Dubois, is quickly becoming a favorite. Thanks Austin, for another great book.

frenemies

The story was good but it's a bit short and that made it frustrating since almost the entire first half was the 2 MC just arguing. It drove me nuts but it's finebif you're into bthe whole frenemies thing. It was honestly a cute romance and a nice story. I loved how thought out the characters were to the point that they had their own proper tastes and quirks. The steamy scenes were hot but didn't seem dirty, if that makes sense. The voice actor, Dubois, did a great job as a narrator, the pacing and inflections were really good but Sunny's voice (a side character) drove me crazy and his higher pitch and female voices seemed more like a joke. Thankfully there weren't too many scenes with other high voiced characters so the book mostly sounded smooth and calming. Not the best book, not the worst, good overall.

Enemies to Lovers

This is a cute and sweet quick listen of a small town boy and big city boy. When Ronan is looking for a change he moves to a small town to work at his best friend's animal clinic where he meets Oliver. Oliver instantly takes a disliking to Ronan and they spend most of their time bickering until their passion ignites! It's a transition from enemies to lovers as they try to figure out just what the future holds for them. The narrator did a great portrayal of the characters and a great rendition of the story. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audiobook.

Like Cats and Dogs

Take one small town boy, add one city boy, shake and see what happens. Ronan comes to the small town for a break from his current job to reassess and figure some things out. He comes to help at his best friend’s clinic but right from the start Oliver has it out for him and does his best to show Ronan just how unwanted he is. Anytime the two are together the sparks fly and not in a good way. Can these two ever find a way to work together?

Ronan and Oliver’s story is mostly about the two of them arguing and fighting. I had a really hard time liking Oliver. He acts like a child from the start and continues to be that way to the end. Ronan is a better character but they both were very one dimensional to me. There really is no build up to their relationship, there is a bit of sexual tension at times but that is it, one minute they are not together the next they are and with that comes more angst from Oliver. This book moves quickly and there are a few time jumps that make it hard to connect with the characters and sometimes it seems more like an outline than a book.

me-ow

Full disclosure I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Fighting like cats and dog Ronan and Oliver really don't get along. Most of the conflict happens before the couple makes amends.
A sweet light hearted listen to pass the time.
