Publisher's summary

“Small towns aren’t for me. It’s a nice change of pace, but I’m going to help out Dale and then get out - back to the city.”

Ronan loves his life in the big city - but he needs a break, and when his good friend Dale asks for some help in getting his small-town animal hospital running more efficiently, he sees it as the perfect chance. A little R&R while still feeling like he’s doing meaningful work - can’t get better than that.

"Who does he think he is, coming in here and "showing us how it’s done"? He’s a complete jerk, and I can’t wait for him to leave."

Oliver’s worked at Sunnydale Animal Hospital for years before it belonged to Sunny and Dale, and the transition to new ownership is leaving him feeling a bit out of place. When Dale asks Ronan to come out to help him with the clinic, Oliver is prepared to hate Ronan on sight - but he’s totally caught off guard when Ronan captures his heart.

Welcome to Sunnydale Vets, where love is the best medicine, and all it takes to fix your problems is the willingness to roll up your sleeves and get to work. This heartwarming audiobook features a city alpha, a small-town omega, and one glorious transformation from enemies to lovers.

Can a New York guy live in a small town?

Can small town life attract a big town guy? The town grows on Ronan as well as the clinic supervisor. The two tangle "like cats and dogs" who ultimately come together for an HEA. I loved the story and characters. I almost stopped listening to the book because of how unhappy I was with the narrator. I feel the narrator depicts Omegas as far too feminine.

Ronan & Oliver

Ronan and Oliver immediately clash. Neither talk until the work situation comes to head. Great narration.

Big City Alpha Meets Small Town Omega

Ronan is an Alpha and lives in New York; he loves his job as a veterinarian but hasn't been satisfied lately with how things are going at the office. He needs a change so he calls his buddy Dale. Dale and his partner took over a vet clinic in a small town. They have been making upgrades and business is booming. He convinces Ronan to come work with them for a while and try the small town life for a change.
Oliver is an omega and a vet at the Sunnydale clinic and he's been there a very long time long before Dale and Sunny took over. Oliver was the office manager, but they changed his title to Supervisor with more or less the same duties. Oliver feels as though its a downgrade. When he hears that they are bringing in a new vet from New York he feels threatened.
When they meet they are drawn to each other, but Oliver takes an immediate dislike of Ronan. The harder Ronan tries to get Oliver to like him the more Oliver pushes him away and they fight just like cats and dogs. Then tempers are so high they kiss. Oliver avoids him like the plague after that till Ronan corners him in a stock room to apologize for the kiss and the fighting, but when that escalates into an argument next thing you know there's kissing and more up against a wall. It's on from there. Can these two figure things out before Ronan's time is up and he's back to New York? Give it a listen.

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening, but not more then twice a year.
it's like a B

Great New Addition

Ronan and Oliver get along like oil and water. Ronan leaves a busy New York practice to help out the Sunnydale vets. Oliver supervises the practice and resents Ronan, viewing him as an outsider. Both men make judgements, without really knowing each other. Things come to a head and explode sexually. Once they get to know each other, Ronan and Oliver develop a relationship. They grow very close. Ronan is asked to return to New York. He doesn’t really want to go, but that was the plan, wasn’t it? Oliver doesn’t want Ronan to go, but doesn’t want to beg. Like Cats and Dogs is a story that will warm your heart. Take the time to listen and enjoy. It will be worth your while. The narrator Guillaume Dubois, is quickly becoming a favorite. Thanks Austin, for another great book.

There is a reason why opposites attract

Ronan wants a break from his current job in New York at a vet office, when one of his friends invites him to come work at Sunnydale he takes him up on the offer. What he does not know is he has kind of taken over the job of Oliver. At the welcome party, which Oliver was asked to set up, Ronan spies him and has a most interesting conversation with him.

The next week or so they have very tense run ins with Oliver having hurt feelings because Ronan seems to want to change everything at the vets office, which effect Oliver tremendously. SO Oliver gets revenge and puts Ronan on call every night when he makes the schedule. When he goes to confront him they can not stay away from each other and things happen.

Will Oliver forgive Ronan? Can they make things better for the office? What happens when Ronan goes back to New York? What happens when Oliver ends up pregnant?

Love this series so much~

Ronan and Oliver

This second book in the Sunnydale Vets series was a nice followup to Dog Days of Summer. I like Ronan's sunny disposition, he is genuinely a nice guy that gets along with everyone. It really surprised him to be met with all the hostility from Oliver. Oliver has preconceived notions and is sure that Ronan is going to make his life difficult. He's also unsure of whether or not he's appreciated. He even questions if he's even wanted at the clinic. All that anxiety is directed at Ronan and sparks fly. Once their anger gives way to passion it begins to turn around. I really liked Oliver once he let go of his attitude and saw Ronan for the great guy he was. Ronan struggled with what he wanted. There's really no choice once he looks into his heart and found that wherever Oliver was is where he'd find home. The ending is superb.

The narrator does a good job with most of the voices. There are a couple that I personally find grating but it doesn't detract the enjoyment of the book.

me-ow

Full disclosure I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Fighting like cats and dog Ronan and Oliver really don't get along. Most of the conflict happens before the couple makes amends.
A sweet light hearted listen to pass the time.
