Sorry yo be disappointed

Struggled to finish this series. As each book began it seemed that the focus was on quantity rather than quality. Books 3-5 became increasingly filled with unnecessary dialog that could only have been used to pad word count, reminded me of college trying to meet a professors demand for lengths of an essay at the expense of the work. Way to much writing and not enough telling. After book 2 my level of disappointment just increased.

Lost a star for excessive use of “hither and thither”

Derek Perkins is brilliant! I love his work and how he clearly delineated each characters voice and vocal mannerisms. The story was also quite enjoyable. It had some slow parts but all stories do. Biggest drawback for me was as noted in the title. It might work well in written form, but spoken word it just yanked me out of the moment every time. Otherwise I really enjoyed it. I greatly liked the religious depths that were looked at.

Amazing the whole time

Just the narration alone was amazing. I felt like I was listening to an ancient storytelling by an elder. The characters were complex and very real. Laughing and crying and just enjoying the worlds being created in my mind through beautiful imagery and words.
