  • #96 Hold On To Your Kids: Relational health series.
    Mar 26 2026

You can now text the show! How cool is that. Do it now!

Your relationship with your kids might be the most important thing you build in your life. Grades? Good. Achievements? Great. but there's one thing that trumps it all. The relationship.

This week we're diving deep into parenting and the importance of your relationship with your kids. Why it matters, how to do it well, and what Gordon Neufeld and Gabor Maté's book "Hold On to Your Kids" teaches us about being our children's compass.

Sadly, kids today are increasingly attaching to their peers instead of their parents. They look to other teenagers for direction on values, identity, and how to behave. The problem is that peers are not equipped to serve as a compass. At all. In any way! It's the blind leading the blind.

Your job is to be the compass point. The one they turn to for meaning, purpose, and security. Not their mates.

My two daughters are poles apart (one just like me, one a complete mystery), they've both taught me about me in differenbt ways. parenting has forced me to grow in emotional capacity, and why we're really just fletchers sending arrows into the world.

Plus: why your relationship with your spouse must come first, the concept of "good enough" parenting from Donald Winnicott, biblical wisdom on not exasperating your children, and practical ways to invest in your kids from Joshua Sheats.

Whether you have biological children or are investing in the next generation as a spiritual parent, this episode is for you.

  • #95 Whom you marry is the second most important decision you'll make
    Mar 19 2026

The second most important decision you'll ever make is who you marry. (The first? I'll reveal that at the end.)

This week we're diving into marriage—why it matters, how to choose well, and what the research actually says about living together before marriage.

The data is fascinating: married people live 2.2 years longer, are twice as likely to be very happy, and recover from illness faster. But couples who live together before being engaged are 48% more likely to divorce. The timing of commitment matters.

I'm making the case for marrying young (I married my wife at 22), addressing the "independent woman" narrative that's left many in their mid-30s lonely and regretting their choices, and talking about how to know if someone's "the one."

Plus: the difference between sliding vs deciding, why character matters more than chemistry, and how to grow together instead of growing apart.

Whether you're single and want to marry, dating, engaged, or already married, this episode will challenge how you think about the most important relationship decision you'll make.

Hit me up on Instagram or email if you've got marriage stories or questions to share.

  • #94 It Takes a Long Time to Make Old Friends. So Start Now!
    Jan 29 2026

It takes a long time to make old friends. So you'd better start now.

This week we're diving into friendship. What makes a good friend, how to actually see your mates more often, and why CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien met twice a week for 20 years to read their unfinished work to each other.

We're covering the desire/outcome mismatch (you want to see friends more but life gets in the way), why you need friends in every decade of life, and the biblical warning about bad company corrupting good character.

Plus, practical tips: stop just hanging around the park having interrupted chats. Do something together. Go karting, hiking, camping, or share a meal. Activity creates connection.

Whether you've got loads of mates or struggle to make friends as an adult, this episode will challenge you to be more intentional about the relationships that might just be the most important factor in living life to the full.
