Publisher's summary

Libby Miller has always been an unwavering optimist - but when her husband drops a bomb on their marriage the same day a doctor delivers devastating news, she realizes her rose-colored glasses have actually been blinding her.

With nothing left to lose, she abandons her life in Chicago for the clear waters and bright beaches of the Caribbean for what might be her last hurrah. Despite her new sunny locale, her plans go awry when she finds that she can't quite outrun the past or bring herself to face an unknowable future. Every day of tropical bliss may be an invitation to disaster, but with her twin brother on her trail and a new relationship on the horizon, Libby is determined to forget about fate. Will she risk it all to live - and love - a little longer?

From critically acclaimed author Camille Pagán comes a hilarious and hopeful story about a woman choosing between a "perfect" life and actually living.

Loved it!

First off, I think Amy McFadden did a superb job bringing Libby to life. This, this, is the difference a remarkable narrator can make in an Audible book. I'm not saying this book wouldn't have been one I'd have loved via the written word, but I must wonder if I'd felt so close to her because she came ALIVE in the Audible version. That said, this was a well-written, fun book to listen to, despite the seriousness of the situation. Pagan is an excellent author. I wished you'd had more of her work! (I looked.) This was my favorite Audible out of 90 I've heard!

Worthwhile Story- less worthwhile narration

I liked the story but had issues with the narrator. To me she sounded like she was about to break into an 80’s Valley Girl impression at any moment. Just not an enjoyable voice to me. Disappointed to notice I have another book narrated by her in my queue. The story was entertaining and at times funny. I think I learned a few new phrases I am going to have to try out. I liked the writing style throughout but the end seemed rushed and too neatly tied up. Worth a listen unless you are easily annoyed by unpleasant voices.

Powerful book on living with Cancer

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It grabbed you from the beginning.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I didn't like the changing of the voices to try to show a man's voice.

Who was the most memorable character of Life and Other Near-Death Experiences and why?

Libby, the main character.

What an awesome story!

I loved it! Original story!
The performances put me right in the middle of the story.
If you are expecting this to follow the movie, don't. It is the same story but several years after the credits roll for the movie.

my first audio

I am a newbie to audio books. I found this very much and plan to try more. The book itself was lovely and everyone can find a message that belongs to you.

Overall Just Ok

While I started and finished this today while diamond painting, I'm not sure this was for me. I absolutely love the narrator, but the story overall was underwhelming and overall just an ok read for me.
