Publisher's summary

Are you a teenager who feels like you just can’t win? Everyone says you aren’t a kid anymore, but no one considers you an adult either….

Before you turned 13, did you want nothing more than to be a “grown-up” teenager, but then it turned out to be this strange halfway point where no one listens to you because they think you’re too old to be a kid, but too young to be an adult? Then, to add to the confusion, you have a million new things to learn—like budgeting, laundry, and how to maintain a car—but not one of these things is being taught in school. Well, if it’s any consolation…you aren’t alone. In fact, according to a survey conducted by OnePoll on recent college grads, “81 percent of respondents agreed they wish they were taught more life skills before graduating college.”

Learning how to be independent is hard, and you’ll certainly encounter problems along the way. But the key is to remember that you can solve these problems—and you can be one step ahead of the game by knowing what to expect and being prepared for the curveballs life throws at you—with the help of this easy-to-understand book!

Inside, here’s just a fraction of what you’ll discover:

  • How to become a super teen who doesn’t give in to peer pressure
  • Clever ways to avoid those dreaded awkward silences
  • A situation when it’s good to blame your parents and they’ll be happy you did it!
  • The secret to landing your first job like a pro when you actually have zero experience
  • How “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees can save your life (or someone else’s) one-day
  • Tips on how to be smarter with your money from creating your own budget to dipping your toes into the world of investing
  • A step-by-step guide on what to do when the cops pull you over
  • Everything you need to know to survive when you’re home alone and how to keep the house in one piece
  • And so much more

Outstanding!

Everyone in their teenage years ought to read Life Skills for Teens. This book covers key life skills such as managing money, interacting with others, developing good study habits, preparing your favorite dish, changing a tire, and much more. In addition to these significant issues, the author delves further into specific scenarios that kids may face in their day-to-day lives and provides an in-depth analysis of each. For instance, the book provides advice on dealing with uncomfortable situations, such as awkward silence and peer pressure. It even provides a scenario in which blaming your parents could work out to your advantage! Additionally, the book offers a step-by-step guide on obtaining your first job with zero experience, a tip that could save your life, and a detailed guide on how to be smarter with your money. All of these are included in the book. The last thing the author does is write a guide for teens on how to deal with the police and make it through the night when they are alone at home. Highly Recommend it.

Covers more than you would imagine

I found "Life Skills for Teens" to be a comprehensive and invaluable guide that equips teenagers with essential skills to navigate the challenges of everyday life. Authored by Robert James Ryan, this book covers a wide range of practical topics, including money management, social skills, studying habits, cooking, automotive basics, and more.
It’s the “and more” that is interesting. Ryan covers relationships and relationship abuse, staying safe online and how to spot a predator or scammer, and what to do when you do stop one. He also gives stats on the prevalence of cyberbullying, cyber-attacks, and online predatory activity.
Also covered are first jobs and if it’s wise to prioritize it over grades, when is the right time to take up a part-time job while in college. So now you have a job; the author covers money matters, spending, budgeting, and saving, and setting habits that will last a lifetime.
I was pleased and surprised to see that he covered food prep, food storage, bacteria, and microbes, all essential if you are to survive living alone.
All in all, an excellent book for teens; parents could learn a lot too.

Highly recommended!

This book is really enjoyable.
Full of true, real advice that addresses every aspect of relational and personal life.
Taking the first steps into the adult world can be overwhelming and draining, but as always the solution is in the simplest things, in everyday behaviors and habits.
Some may come naturally to us while others may not, but that's no problem, it can be learned-in fact, and that's the secret, to learn every day.
In this case, learning how to grow up, and this book is an invaluable support for every teenager.
I must also spend a few words on the narration, really pleasant, never boring, with an empathetic and understanding tone.
Absolutely Recommended!

Just what my son needed

I got this book for my son. He is a very fearless teenager and He is open to learning about becoming independent which is a big plus. The best thing is it confirmed what I have been teaching him. I am glad it taught him about managing his money and not to over spend it. He now know how to start investing and even making money online. He now is enthusiastic about how to change a tire. He now realizes is not easy to live alone. He realized now that adulting is not as easy a he thought.
