I had such high hopes

I love Kevin Kwan. I couldn’t wait for this title to be available. However, the narration quite literally hurt my brain. The narrator played Arabella at a pitch so high and scratchy that it was physically painful to hear. The odd cadence of her storytelling made each character sound breathless, and stupid at the same time. Please remake this book with Lydia Look.

Interesting story twists

Loved the well written details along with the introduction of fascinating characters . Also enjoyed the reader of the books bringing the book to life.

Best yet

This may be the best Kevin Kwan book yet. Enjoyed the character development, plot twists and overall story.

Made me excited for new trilogy: better than 1

I loved the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy and am almost as smitten with this new Cities trilogy. Buuuuuuut.... the second book was way better than the first. So if you read Sex and Vanity and weren't sure about continuing: keep going!

I love, love, love Kevin Kwan's writing style. (All the factual and quirky asides!) But it takes a special voice actor to pull off narrating such work. Jing Lusi doesn't disappoint. The author once again thoughtfully chose the voice for his words. I honestly can't praise this enough. Bummed that I have to wait for the next book - ha!

Fun Get-Your-Mind-Off-Struggles Book

Lots of over the top but fun characters and the plot kept me engaged in spite of all the name dropping. I didn't care for the narrator; at times she sounded too stilted and I couldn't stand her tone for Arabella, the matriarch. It was so loud and screechy, it gave me a headache.

Ms. Lusi did a fantastic job in her narration. Her range is very impressive. Wow!

Funny and Original.

Kwan did it again!! A fun summer beach read that’s well written, witty and very charming!! I Loved this book and was sad when it was over.

At some point you’ll lose track of who’s who, but I promise it all comes together so nicely! Loved this!

PAINFUL narration

My ability to finish listening to this title is a testament to Kevin Kwan’s story, because the narration was awful. The American characters all sound like stoned cartoon characters. And Lady Arabella was painfully over-the-top. Wish I would have read this one instead of listening.
