Stick with it!
At the beginning of the book I was not thrilled I actually considered returning it. I thought oh well I spent the credit I'll just go ahead and listen to it. The middle of the book had gotten better and I wanted to know what happened with the characters. By the end of the book I was in tears. I could not believe how much this book brought on such strong emotions in me. I didn't care for the narration as it seemed very mono-toned in some places. I'm glad I gave the story a chance.
