Publisher's Summary

When Phoebe starts receiving anonymous letters, she never once thinks the most irresponsible man in London is her correspondent. Or that she will fall in love with him.

Phoebe Kimball grew up believing in love, but after failing to find a gentleman capable of capturing her heart, she has turned more practical than romantic. She is determined to find a husband in London this season. If only the annoying Mr. Fenwick would stop appearing every time she sets her cap at someone! When an anonymous letter arrives warning her that her current target is unsuitable marital material, Phoebe begins a relationship with the letter writer that promises something more than a practical alliance.

Griffin Fenwick does not usually care for women on the hunt for a husband, but Miss Kimball's quick wit and refusal to admit she enjoys his company intrigues him. When he realizes the gentlemen on her list of eligible bachelors is full with scoundrels, he warns her the only way he can - through a letter. As he comes to know Phoebe better, he soon realizes he wishes to put his own name on her list. If only she liked Griffin as much as she liked her anonymous correspondent.

When Phoebe realizes its been Griffin writing her all along, will she put aside practicality for love, or spurn Griffin for even trying to woo her?

Letters for Phoebe is the first in a series of books about five friends. The next four novellas will be written by authors Joanna Barker, Megan Walker, Heidi Kimball, and Arlem Hawks.

Sweet story

Clever storyline free from all the angst and misunderstandings that other authors overuse, which I get so tired of. This one had two likable main characters, and I’m glad I didn’t turn it off during the uninteresting prequel about the school girls. That ends quickly, and then the real story begins.

Fun series

I read this book when it was first being released and then I read another one in the series by another author. And now I have listened to this one again. I think I nearly enjoyed it more the second go around now that I know the ending of one of the other girls’ story. But then I haven’t read a single book by Sally Britton that I haven’t liked. This is a sweet love story between Griffin and Phoebe. They are both fun characters but I especially like Griffin for his lightness and wit.

A sweet regency romance

This is a sweet novella that I listened to in between some contemporary romances. While in school, Phoebe and her friends made a pact that they would marry for love. Phoebe hasn't found love yet so despite the pact she made with her friends, Phoebe sets her mind that this Season she will find someone to marry. But it seems every time she sets her sights on a gentleman she receives an anonymous letter warning her of something about them--they gamble, they're about to be betrothed to someone, etc. And then irritating Griffin Fenwick keeps popping up at every function Phoebe attends.

Griffin is such a sweetheart to warn Phoebe about the men she's interested in. The banter between them when they meet at the various events is fun and witty, which is the best kind of banter. It was fun to watch him start falling for Phoebe as they spent time together. Although this is a novella the characters are well developed and the plot wasn't rushed.

The narrator Jessica Elisa Boyd is great. She's a favorite of a couple of authors I read so I've listened to many books she's a narrated.

Sweet

A short and sweet Regency Romance. The predominant character development revolved around the two main characters; however, the performance was excellent and it was a good listen during my commute.
It was more like an episode in a series. This did not prevent it from having good writing and excellent storytelling.
I will look for this author again as well as the narrator.

It was sweet, funny and kept my attention from beginning to end. No long, drawn out, boring sections. And I look forward to book 2 in this series.

Sally Britton never disappoints

While I enjoyed the book, narration was a bit fast for me which was easily remedied buy taking the speed down a notch. I will be listening to the rest of the series.

A DIFFERENT PLOT TWIST!

I liked this book as it was different from most historical romances. Both main characters were intelligent and thoughtful. As the book summary states, Phoebe begins receiving letters warning her off of men on her "list" of potential suitors. The letters are from a male friend that is very annoying to her! But she mostly does heed his letters, and finds out that what she is told is true. These letters come to her over and over again as she is going methodically down her list of potential suitors, and she begins to wonder just who is writing to her, and how he knows these tidbits about her list of men? Of course, as the book goes along, and her list of men dwindle, she does figure out who is the author of the letters, and at first is miffed (without revealing to him yet that she knows it is him ) But, even as he has already done, she finally realizes that he IS a good, kind, intelligent and thoughtful man. I like this book because it had a bit if mystery to it, even as it was an historical romance novel. The main characters were fun, and they enjoyed each other's abilities and intelligence.

Very disappointing

This is a "NOTHING" story it has no real tale, no real characters. It starts off with some humour, but quickly loses that.
I was bored practically from the start, kept hoping for a reprieve, no luck. It is not even worth trying to explain what it was about.
Sadly Author's thrown out duds, such as this in a good collection. Not worth a credit.

Letters for Phoebe is such a beautiful story!!

Letters for Phoebe by Sally Britton is such a beautiful story!! I loved how Miss Phoebe Kimball and Mr. Griffin Fenwick got to know each other better through their correspondence with each other, albeit one knew the other (better) in real life. Griffin was such a great, good-humored character that felt so refreshing, while at the same time it was so sweet getting to glimpse his more serious, caring side. And Miss Phoebe, she was so lucky to have a friend in him, to look out for her and advise her on her next decisions. I eagerly anticipated every interaction between these two, and definitely enjoyed reading how they slowly started to develop feelings for each other *le happy sigh*.

As for the narrator, I think she did an incredible work bringing to life all the characters and all their emotions. Personally, though, there was a moment in the story when it felt like Griffin's mother's voice changed too much for it to be believable that it was still the same person speaking. But notwithstanding that minor fact, I truly enjoyed listening to this book, since it fairly transported me to the setting right beside the characters :)

Overall, a great introduction to this new, multi-author series, perfect for fans of the authors as well as the Sweet Historical Romance genre. Can't wait to follow the stories of the rest of the friends! ~ 5 stars

I absolutely loved this story!

I love this story. What a great start to the series. When I first started reading it, I couldn’t help but think of it as a Regency adaptation of “You’ve Got Mail” (a movie I also happen to love) but even though there are some similarities, the story shines on its own. I loved Griffins outgoing and witty personality. He is full of life and is always doing something to make others laugh. It’s not even so much the actions that I found loveable so much as the intent behind them. He is always caring and kind. Wanting to do whatever is in his capability to help another. Phoebe’s personality also intrigued me for it’s complexities. A practical and reserved character she initially comes across as sever but as we continue along we see her open up and realise that she really just wants to be loved and cared for and have someone to show that same care and love for.
Wonderfully narrated by the lovely Jessica Elisa Boyd (who is always a pleasure to listen to in my opinion), this clean and wholesome book left this reader smiling and content, yet eager for more.
I received a copy of this book with no obligation to leave a review. All thoughts expressed are my own.
