The most entertaining and enraging stories from 'Classical' mythology (and, often, ancient history of the wider Mediterranean!) told casually, contemporarily, and (more often than not) sarcastically. The world of Greek mythology and the history of the wider ancient Mediterranean is full of wonder, horror, and utter hilarity. These myths and stories are timeless for a reason, they're just as relevant today as they were 2500+ years ago. With over 700 episodes and counting, we dive deep into the realm of gods, goddesses, heroes, monsters, and everything in between.

Regular episodes every Tuesday, conversations with authors and scholars or readings of ancient epics every Friday. LTAMB: The Oracle Edition has ad-free episodes and so much more. • RE-AIR: Conversations: A Long and Storied History of Sparta, Modern Misuse & Misconception w/ Stephen Hodkinson
    Jan 13 2026

This episode originally aired as part of the Spartan Mirage series, in January 2023. It's time we listen and learn (again). Liv speaks with Stephen Hodkinson, expert in all things Sparta. They discuss Sparta throughout history including its use in politics from the founding of the USA to Nazi Germany to modern day misuses of Spartan culture and history. Read more about Sparta and the Capitol insurrection (and so much more Sparta content!) here. Read the book, Classical Controversies, for free here. CW/TW: far too many Greek myths involve assault. Given it's fiction, and typically involves gods and/or monsters, I'm not as deferential as I would be were I referencing the real thing.

    Jan 9 2026

Liv speaks with classicist, author, and veteran, Joshua Cannon about the Iliad, warfare in the ancient Mediterranean, and how War is Bad, Actually. This episode was recorded in October 2025. CW/TW: far too many Greek myths involve assault. I try to provide direct warnings when there is reference to anything with overtly traumatic themes but be aware that Greek mythology regularly features assault, death, and many other potentially triggering events.

    Jan 6 2026

Liv speaks with classicist Curtis Dozier about the troubling (and tragically unsurprising) connections between the world's worst people (white supremacists) and ancient Greece and Rome. Fantastic, love to listen often. Gave me a much better understanding of Greek mythology. I enjoy the host and her perspective on the obvious sexism of Greek myth.

Liv tells the tales of Greek mythology in a way that's fun, engaging and easy to understand even when some are so convoluted and confusing. She also makes amazing commentary and parallels to modern day issues and trends in a way that is refreshing. 10/10
