Publisher's summary

The story of Halford House began 60 years ago. Most of those who were part of the original story are now with the Lord. Recently, the Lord spoke to me about setting down in writing my recollections of the story before I myself go to be with him. I have taken the title of this book from the decree of Cyrus concerning the recovery and rebuilding of the Temple, the House of the Lord, in Jerusalem.

It is recorded in Ezra 5:15 KJV: Let the house of God be built. My prayer and desire is that the Lord will use the testimony of Halford House, its rebuilding, and restoration, to bring illumination and understanding of God’s purpose for the church.

10/10 would reccomend :))

I was really blessed by the retelling of the history of Halford House. It's really cool to see the faithfulness of our Lord to His work and how He partners with ordinary people to complete His work. 'Let the House of God Be Built' is a testimony to the Lord's provision in building the physical building at Halford house as well to his work in His people who make up His church.
There are many spiritual principles throughout the book that are relevant to every Christian today no matter what stage of life.
This book clearly illustrates the importance of Christ being our head both corporately and individually .

Let the House of God Be Built

“Let the House of God be Built”
By Lance Lambert
The Story and Testimony of Halford House

“Let the House of God Be Built” is an anointed resource for the Church straight from the Word of God! It is a testimony to the utter commitment and eternal Love of our Lord Jesus to all of us and may be of special value to those who have come to the place where they are diligently seeking Him. Our brother Lance has been gifted to fill the pages with Life and humor and that measure of scripture that anchors both in Christ. It is good to be reminded that God does have a sense of humor. It is a righteous humor which is restorative to the soul and which will build us together and not embarrass or tear down. There is seriousness as well made clear in the exhortation to hear and obey the Holy Spirit… Jesus is given to lead all the way through this building of the House of God, the Church, the Body of Christ! It is the eternal purpose of God that Christ be all and in all!
In the book we see that vision of the actual body of Christ coming alive in a little group of eight Christians who had a glimpse of the true Church. They were caught in earnest amazement as that glimpse opened an experience of prayer and intercession in their midst that changed their lives forever. It was a costly revelation which it normally is, however, the Lord committed Himself to them and allowed them to know and follow faithfully the enabling secrete of prayer.
This is a story of truth as well as a true story. The restoration of Halford House which remains their meeting place today is a perfect life lesson of the building of the body of Christ. Works of the Holy Spirit and miracles are an integral part of the whole building story. Real accounts of the salvation of persons and families are given showing the Love that drew them and saved them.
The stories brought a new appreciation for the cross of Christ and the empty tomb. There is also a new appreciation for that cross which He has given to each of us and a renewed call to bear it faithfully. All of this helps bring a new understanding of and a desire toward the love of the brethren and the laying down of our lives to Him and each other…Life begets Life. We begin to see how through this love of others and a denial of self that the presence of Jesus becomes more visible in and around us and changes us all.
These are only a few of the works of God during this coming about of a message to all of us of how He actually does build His House. In closing however, one great evidence of God’s anointing here is how the Lord expresses His Love for each person through our brother Lance. He is gracious in mentioning several known brethren who have helped any number of us including our brother. There was mention of Watchman Nee, Stephen Kaung, T. Austin Sparks, A.B. Simpson, Billy Graham to name a few.
And, with just as much love and appreciation he writes about Mrs. Quinell, Mrs. Head, Florrie, Brian and Ivy, Ivan and Blanche, Alan and Doreen, some of those who were actually built into the body of Christ there at Halford House. It is wonderful how the Lord shows Himself as Savior of all who come. All must come through the Cross. All have the same beginning, the same opportunities to grow to learn etc. Each is responsible to the Lord in that which He reveals to Him or Her. Those who have not had the opportunity to experience a Halford House or a Billy Graham…He still knows and Loves.
In the final analysis this ‘resource’ will speak to everyone who is drawn by Him to know more of the Father’s initial and eternal purpose in the Son. It is a story of the eternal Love that open’s the way through, always, by the practice of using these keys: Prayer and Intercession to Jesus. We must find the Father’s will in all things that we are doing just as Jesus did. Fellowship with Him in Prayer and Intercession gets us there…..He gets us there.

For a closer walk with Jesus!

Just a closer walk with Jesus—isn’t that the desire God Himself has put within every heart truly born of God? Lance’s book Let The House of God Be Built is, I believe, purposed by God to draw the reader’s heart into that closer, purer, truer walk with God. This is so much more than just another testimonial book about spiritual things although, indeed, the book is a most remarkable testimony of proven experience of more than seventy years of a life well lived in fellowship with the Lord Jesus.

Walking with Lance through his story of the spiritual house built by God is a tiny bit like I imagine walking with Jesus on the road to Emmaus might have been like as the Lord explained the old covenant Scriptures concerning Himself. The reader will be given much instruction along with strong exhortation and encouragement, while also being warned all while seeing in new light what the church of the Living God truly is, what it means to be part of a living organism of which Christ alone is Head, and how to “simply and naturally” abide as His child, as His servant, and as a company of believers…in His presence, under His authority and to His glory. The reader with a heart for intercession will gain a wealth of understanding in how one experiences the burden of the Lord together with the Intercessor Himself so as to effectively overcome the works of the devil in loosening what is loosed in Heaven and binding on earth what is bound in Heaven by the Spirit of God.

The Lord enabled His servant, Lance, to share testimony in a way that seems to transport the hearer as if we were watchers present on the scene of the event being described. Lance Lambert is many things to many people. Lance is first of all a proven bond-servant of Jesus Christ, a brother to all who share the life of the risen Lord, an intercessor, teacher, a prophet, a writer; and Lance was a faithful watchman ever calling out for the benefit of others that which he had been given to see. Perhaps Lance’s instruction and his example all boil down to what it really means to watch…to be ever on the alert to perceive God's purpose in all things so as to to pray according to the heart and mind of God that we all might exalt Christ in the living experience we all long for--just a closer walk with Jesus.

Classic Lance Lambert - entertaining and practical

First, I was very pleased with this audiobook. The reading is very clear and pleasant, and the pacing is perfect and easy to follow. I listened during long commutes in city traffic and found it easy to understand despite the noise in my environment. It was also easy to pick up where I had left off despite having to start and stop at odd places in the narrative. For those who knew Lance Lambert, this reading brings to life his intelligence, his wit and humor, as well as his deep love and reverence for the house of the Lord. I highly recommend it.

As for the book itself, I found it to be an important historic record, but also an extremely practical manual. It is not too lengthy, and yet it is very rich. It is full of important principles and practical examples of how a group of believers can truly bring every decision to the Lord and receive from Him clear direction in every aspect of corporate life. It is valuable both in its retelling of the history of Halford House, and in the hope and challenge that it brings to all believers today to seek a real and living relationship with the Lord in their prayer life. This book demonstrates what is possible when we truly seek the Lord. I found it inspiring and deeply convicting. It is a testimony to the faithfulness of God as shown throughout many stories and witnesses. In these uncertain times, it is a great encouragement and a reminder that the Lord we can go to the Lord in prayer and He will answer from Heaven. Sometimes with humor but always according to His unfailing providence.

Those who knew Lance Lambert may have heard some of these anecdotes at one point or another but it is wonderful to find them all gathered and organized into one complete, chronological retelling of the Lord’s provision throughout the early years of this body of believers. I found myself laughing out loud at times; other times it brought tears to my eyes. I realized how much I miss Lance and also how little I know about his early ministry. This book serves many purposes all at once and I believe that all readers will find something to take from it that will make a real difference in their daily life.
