This Midwestern state is the setting for the Lillian Dove Mystery Series. My family roots have grown deep in Iowa since the 1860s. The protagonist of the series Lillian Dove is a recovering alcoholic, but her addition is not the major theme of the series. Lillian is attempting to learn what she and life may have looked like before her first drink.

Entertaining
Let Her Go is entertaining but I found Lillian annoying with her constant attacks against Detective Leveque. Her immature behavior almost ruined the book. However, I was able to overlook it and enjoy the book.

Lillian is at it again
LET HER GO D. J. Adamson Lillian Dove is back getting in the middle of police investigations. Christmas is coming soon, and Lillian seems to be experiencing her own A Christmas Carol. Will memories and present happenings blend to solve the murder and missing girl cases, and who is after her mom.? This is part mystery, police procedural, a bit cozy, humorous, and romance. Throw in a cat and you have the full deal. I hope there will be more of these novels. The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Let her Go
I didn't mind the book at the beginning even if it did start of slow but once it progressed I found Lillian really annoying. There were times I honestly felt like slapping her. She acted like a teen the way she behaved with Detective Leveque. Who does she think she is! I must admit it put me of reading any more books in this series. I hate it when sleuths who have no background in solving mysteries (except for one) believe they know better. If this was a cozy mystery I could understand but it is not. Not for me but others might like it.
